Turn 4
“Well yes, you tried,” the voice responds, “but... you failed.” For the first time, you can hear the creatures movements. You hear its legs tense as it gets ready to pounce, and hear the branch it was sitting on snap when it jumps. You don’t even see the creature, instead, the darkness closes in just as quickly as the creature does, and all you can sense as it’s fangs touch your neck, are the two glowing eyes, and... good grief that smells bad. Your eyes snap open and you let in a gasp of air, which, may not have been the best idea as you get another big whiff of that horrible smell. Standing over you is a dark haired boy, about your age, in a cat eared hoodie. If it wasn’t for his creepy red eyes, you’d almost assume he wasn’t a monster. “Sir,” the boy calls as he turns his head to the right, “he’s awake.” “Ah good,” replies a voice you heard before, the same voice from behind the door, the same voice as the creature, “give him a tissue for his neck, Lucas.” “Got it,” the boy responds, grabbing a tissue from the tissue box and handing it to you, “your neck is bleeding.” You run your hand on your neck and feel a small cut on it, right where the monster’s teeth almost bit down. You immediately press the tissue to it and try to stand up, but your legs still feel like they’re burning. You are inside the headmaster’s office, and a tall man in a black suit is sitting on a swerving chair behind the desk, his back to you. “Hello Mr. Actor,” the man states as he turns around, neat dark hair tops a long, pail, clean shaven face. The only thing that betrays his inhumanity is his aura, a solid cloud of pure fear that radiates from his form. “I am Headmaster Deimos,” the man continues, “and I’d like to personally welcome you to my school.”
Making sure you can’t be seen, you start listening in to the conversation. “So whose class are you most excited for?” the boy asks. “Ms. Lily, definitely,” responds the girl, “I heard she’s the nicest.” “I heard from my brother that Mr. O’Conner’s teaching aid tells some funny jokes,” the boy responds. “Yeah, but I heard that O’Conner himself carries around a sword to use on misbehaving students,” the girl replies, “he’s just as strict as Harker or Brave.” “Good point,” the boy responds, “but I heard Harker’s worse. Saying the wrong thing about Dracula in his presence can get you detention.” “Yeah, but I’ve always been good with English,” the girl counters, “math though...” “I’ve volunteered to tutor you Rio,” the boy responded, “you don’t even need to pay me.” “Dean, I told you,” Rio responded, “if I get a tutor, it’ll feel like I’m giving up.” “Fine,” Dean responded, “well, what electives are you taking?” “I’ve got acting with Ms. Aput and Mage craft with Mrs. Hopkins,” Rio replied, “how about you?” “Self defense with Smith,” Dean replied, “and Monster Bio with Headmaster Deimos.” “The headmaster teaches that class?” Rio asked, “wow, I feel bad for you, I heard he was scary.” “Yeah,” Dean replied, “no one knows what type of monster he is, but one thing’s for sure, the aura of fear around him is palpable.”
“I have Independent Study, then Gym and Math, both with O’Conner,” 猫爱子 responded in accented English, “then English with Chang, Fencing with O’Conner again, then History with Brave and Science with Lily.” You nod your head, and to both of your surprise, your other roommate speaks up. “I also have Independent Study first,” 九蛇王 states, his accent less noticeable, but still there, “then Mr. Chang, Mr. O’Conner for Math, Mr. Brave for History, Mrs. Lily for Pre-med, Mr. Ishtar for Computers, and finally Ms. Lily again for Science."
They can speak English, but are much more comfortable with Chinese. Also, I apologize for any errors I make in my Chinese.“Nice to meet you Ichrow,” Seamus responds, “that’s a cool name, much spookier than Seamus. I bet you’ll have an easier time in this school than I will.” Seamus and you begin to make your way to room 808, fortunately, the main quad is rather small, and it doesn’t take much more than five minutes to get there. Seamus knocks on the door, which fortunately doesn’t give way under the equivalent of a heavyweight boxer punching it repeatedly. The door opens and out steps a massive, heavily armored warrior. His armor is coated in a bone and skull motif, looking like something an anti-paladin would wear. The only part that’s missing is the helmet, but that’s forgivable being as the man has no head, instead, blue lights flows from his neck. Even without one, he still stands a good six inches taller than you. Under his left arm is a Jack O’lantern, which, of course, begins to speak. “Well look at that Ceddy,” the Jack O’lantern says, “we got visitors.” The Jack O’lantern pauses, as if waiting for a response, and then begins again. “He wants to I know how he can help you,” the Jack O’lantern responds, “why don’t you come inside?”
You take the device from Widget and hold it pointed at your face. You press a button on it and the screen lights up. “Please scan components,” the device stats in a robotic tone. You point the back of it at your spare parts and look at the screen, pretty sure you’ve figured out the device. You think it’s one of those “IPad” things you’ve heard of. You press the button again and are stunned when a bright light flashes in your eyes. You drop the device and it lands on your bed. “Not a component,” the device responds, “please scan components.” You lift the device back up, this time pointing the screen at the spare parts, and press the button again. A light flashes again, this time followed by the device stating, “scan complete.” Turning the device around once more, you find the screen now displays a list on the parts you just scanned, as well as a list of blueprints and what percentage of the pieces you need for each device you have. At the bottom right corner is a green plus sign labeled “create new?”
You were right, it totally wasn't a modern day tablet. There’s no specific ice magic section, but there is a magic section. However, within it, the books are sorted alphabetically, not by topic. Knowing at least where to start looking, you head to your dorm. Once in building 4, you take the stairs up to floor two and find your room. You slide your ID through the card reader and the light flashes green. You open the door and are greeted by a blast of pleasant cool air, and find that the bottom two beds are unoccupied, and before you can check the top one, you hear a girl’s voice say “bonjour.” A furry, white head peaks over at you from the top bunk, and you can see a girl’s face, covered in white fur, and with a long, white beard. “I am Christel,” the girl greets you, her voice holding a thick French accent, “what is your name?”
