Now that you have found the best way to make Heightned, you decide to add to their numbers. The rouses begin to fight, tearing each other apart. You keep a sharp eye out, both for when enough have died and for those fighting with the most viciousness, cunning, and ferocity. By the time seventy rouses have died, you have found your champions. The power is drawn into them, and they grow larger, stronger, two have their heads split as the magi Heightened did, while the rest simply swell in strength, cunning, and cruelty. One swells up like the rouse which died when you turned it, but instead of exploding it simply lays there, barely able to move. A second rouse pokes its head out of the stomach. It’s tiny, and hairless, and covered with weeping sores.
They feast on the bodies of the fallen, all of them together, snapping and snarling over choice morsels, and you leave them to it. Several times, you sense the gaze of the stone creature pass over them as it eats.
You have more important things to worry about. You call forth the Seductress and two slaves, and spend some of the power you have gained from worship, smoothing her features, making her look less like a withered hag and more like someone who was just a little on the old side. The slaves, you bend and warp, making them into squat creatures with long claws and stony flesh, breaking their minds and leaving them with nothing but a will to serve you.
