He nods again. "I'll do that the day we land, sir." Bowing his head slightly, the man steps out of the room.

Hel-Shredder spends most of his time aboard the Kracken praticing with his leatherworking tools.

Progress Towards Leather-working Proficiency = 18/49

In addition to this, he pays a visit to several other crew members.

---

The Hobgoblin approaches Stella at mealtime. "Excuse me, do you have a moment?"

---

Mr. Shredder knocks on the door to Sorimas' cabin, hoping the abberation is awake. He knows that she is naturally nocturnal, but has no clue what hours that translates to out in the Astral Sea, where there is no true day or night. "Sorimas, its Mr. Shredder! may I come in for a word with you?"

Stella looks up at him, putting aside her utensils for now. "I do. What is it you wish to discuss?"

"That robot we fought." Mr. Shredder states, "the second one. More specifically its weapon. Do you think it can be reverse engineered?"

"I believe so, yes, but its design appears to be very different from ours. It would take a great deal of time and require many experts. However, it would greatly advance our own technology," Stella responds after a moment of thought.

Mr. Shredder nods. "I was thinking about the same. If we want to do so, We need to commit to it and buy the weapon now though. I'd be willing to offer 150 of my own Galifars to the project for supplies now, and perhaps another sizable sum after our next voyage to rent out an arcanoforge, if you would be willing to take charge on this. If you can find another crew member or two willing to go in with us, I think we should be able to pull it off, don't you?"

"Yes, it is possible. However, I question why you choose me to be the lead. Melee weaponry is not my expertise, although a nonlethal alternative is extremely valuable." She studies him.

"Well, if we reverse engineer it as it stands, perhaps you could learn enough to incorporate similar technology into an arrowhead or such." Mr. Shredder admits, "Hells, who knows what other breakthroughs you might make while working on this project. As you pointed out, it would greatly advance our own technology."

He lowers his ears. "I... I suppose thats why I chose you over Dullahan to head the project. I'd wager the warforged would approach such a task as merely the design and construction of a weapon. An... altruist... such as yourself might bring a bit more imagination and curiosity to the matter. The people who made this managed to command electricity without the use of the arcane sciences! Surely the implications are not lost on you!"

"I know that you are trying to win my favor, but your logic on the potential future applications of it is sound. Very well, I will help you. Perhaps we should discuss the rest of the funding after you consult others." Stella appears highly unamused, but she's not upset.

Mr. Shredder shrugs. "Why shouldn't I try to win your favor? I think we both know at this point the philosophical gulf between our worldviews is vast, but that is no reason for us to dislike one another. We are on the same crew. At some point it is likely my life will be in your hands or vice-versa! I imagine whatever good you want to do in the world will require funds, as do my ambitions, so the vast majority of the time I imagine our short term goals will be aligned to maximize the profit of our voyages together."

The Hobgoblin offers (an admittedly slimy) smile. "And aside from all that, you are smart! You approach or match my own intellect! It would be preferable, when we do inevitably disagree, to sort out our differences with high rhetoric rather than by shouting or snarking at one another."

He pauses for breath. "That aside, who else do you think might be interested in the project, and how much more do you reckon we will need to raise?"

Stella listens quietly before offering a characteristically laconic response."Yes, funds help, but know that funds alone achieve nothing. You are right, however, that disagreements should ideally be settled diplomatically.

She pauses to think. "You yourself mentioned Dullahan, so ask him if you are not concerned about his involvement in intracrew fighting. Brother Jonathan may be a wise choice, as well, being a virtuous cleric. He would have an interest in nonlethal options. Sormias is interested in keeping things intact, in addition, although I worry about unintended use of this object."

Fyodor suddenly sits down next to the two chatterboxes, without making a sound

”I assume you are discussing the useage of that machine that we salvaged? Indeed, i myself have given it some thought.”

Atil doesn’t do much more than avoids everyone’s foolishness while on the ship, resting off the numerous wounds he gained from the battles they had fought, and irritated that none of the things they defeated were edible.

Mr. Shredder is taken aback by the sneaky inquisitor. Fyodor was, perhaps, the only member of the crew that he didn't intend to go out of his way to get along with, but at this point he wasn't going to say no to extra funds for the project. "Indeed. I believe you of all people don't need to be convinced of the weapon's effectiveness, do you? We were just discussing pooling funds to reverse engineer the thing. If we get 3-4 of us to put in one to two hundred gold now to buy the Alien weapon and other components, and another one to two hundred after our next successful voyage to fund time at an Arcaneoforge, we should have a good chance at getting it to work. What do you think?"
