"Satisfaction is the sensation of having nothing left to accomplish..." Mr. Shredder repeats Stella's words slowly, as if he were a child still trying to learn the common tounge. "No... No... thats not quite it. Satisfaction is the wonderful feeling that you have accomplished much! It dosn't have to be a disavowment of future accomplishment! I, for example, am one of the very first people from Ebberon to visit another world via spelljamming, aboard a ship I helped design, with a crew I helped pick out! I'm not yet even 25 years old, and if I dropped dead today, I would be satisfied with my life." The hobgoblin states matter-o-factly, building confidence as he speaks. The ranting pattern his speech evolves into is eloquent, but Hel-Shredder's greed is so apparent in his words and voice that it comes across as more than a bit slimy.

"But I'm not going to die today! Hopefully not anytime soon! No matter how much life gives me, I know there is more to take! I could swap lifespans with an elf and not run out of things to accomplish in Sharn alone. Factor in these stars we now sail, and immortality might not even be time enough for me!"

Stella ponders Sormas's question for a few moments. "I do not believe I get anything. I would gladly plant a tree that I would never see the fruit of within my lifetime. Would you?"

She then listens to Shredder's small speech intently, studying him, before responding. "If you believe that there is more to do, I do not believe that such a thing is satisfaction, however pleased you may be with what you have done. So long as you recognize that there is more that you can contribute to the world, however, the words used rarely matter."

Deciding there's too much talking, Jundar goes below deck to his quarters, to do whatever it is he does alone.

Jundar reappears later that day with an extremely muscular right arm

The Astral Kraken departed this world, it's hold reasonably full, it's crew unwilling to brave whatever manifest zone they were leaving behind for mere mithral. Having established that this planet is not a clue to finding the elves, they reported in, and were recalled to Eberron for leave before making their next attempt. Ledgers were prepared. As usual, you may purchase any item on the ledger at the listed price, which is below what you would pay for them in a store.

The journey home will be 8 days. The downtime charts will now be available again. You may level to 3, and expect 30 days of downtime in Sharn.

Bill of Goods:

1 mortician’s set @250 galifars to be sold to the auction house
6 suits space armor @200 galifars each to be sold for examination and study to House Canith
30 watertight metal boxes @50 galifars each
3 bars mithral @ 2000 galifars per bar on the open market
30 Galifars in Alien Trinkets
1 set lightweight tinker’s tools @100 galifars

Total Value of Goods: 9,080
Pay per Adventurer: 648.57 Galifars
Final Profit: 4,540.01

Crafting Opportunities:
You may pay the material prices listed for any of these items with the included discounts, then dedicate suitable workdays.

Taser, Arcane Powersource
Total Value: 3000 galifars, 1500 galifar on resale market
Workdays to Complete: 429 (Recommend 43 arcanoforge days (costing an additional 516 galifars) in Middle Menthis)
Material Price: 375 galifars
  • Alien Weapon @400 galifars, reduced to 200
  • Khyber Crystal @100 galifars
  • Mithral Alloys @150 galifars, reduced to 75
It seems worth attempting to connect this robotic weapon to a dragonshard powersource. When completed, it is anticipated that this weapon would hold 7 charges and recover 1d6+1 per day. A charge may be expended to make a dex attack against a target. You must train with 'tasers' to be proficient in this attack. It will deal 8d6 electric damage to a target which is never lethal, and causes convulsions in a target it downs.

Mithral Armor or Weapon
Total Value: 300 galifars+normal cost of equipment
Workdays to Complete: 43+ normal cost of equipment/7
Material Price: 37.5+ galifars
  • Mithral Alloys @75 galifars, discounted to 37.5 galifars
  • Additional parts, leather straps, padding, buckles, etc, by item (total price/4)
Mithral Weapons with the heavy property lose the heavy property. Mithral armor has no strength requirement and no stealth penalties. Mithral breastplates and mithral chain shirts can be concealed beneath most clothing.

Jundar keeps to himself during the flight back, as per usual. He sleeps, eats his meals, then he goes back to his quarters.
Much like the trip out here, he continues his rigorous training. He does very little else.

[Unarmed training - 26/70]

However, on the eight and final day of travel, the man knocks on Mr. Shredder's door.

Mr. Shredder waltzes down to the ship's hold, and claims for himself the inactive cleaning robot. House Lyrandar didn't assign value to the metal creature, and the wizard was never one to turn down free stuff. He recalls that Sorimas wanted it, but that was presuming that it still worked. If she were to come looking for it before the ship returned to Sharn, he would consider giving it back. Otherwise, he would find an artisan to mount and display it as a trophy.

Also on the matter or trophies, the Hobgoblin helps himself to the Alien Trinkets, dutifully deducting 30 Galifars from his pay in exchange for the prize.

---

"Come in! Come in!" The Hobgoblin calls. Mr. Shredder is sitting on his bed, scribbling in his spellbook. "Deltas! Good to see you! How may I be of assistance?"

The veteran walks in as he's invited, nodding to the hobgoblin.
"Sir." He begins, his right arm twitching a little. He's wearing modest, light clothing. He's probably about to go training, as usual. Or just got back.
Clearing his throat and looking forward with his neutral, almost dead stare, the man speaks. "What do people do for enjoyment now?"

Brother Jonathan continued teaching Unarmed fighting during the day on the journey back to Sharn, meditating and giving prayers to the Silver Flame in the evenings.

Mr. Shredder scratches his chin at the soldier's question. "On this boat? Jack and shit since they threw away the booze I'm afraid. If you are into casual sex, there is a pretty good chance Sormias would be down, but otherwise Jack and shit."

The Hobgoblin snaps his fingers, "but you are talking more in general, aren't you? Sharn is a big city, and the war is over. Whatever floats your boat, you can probably find somewhere to do it and someone to do it with. Myself, I'm something of a workahollic, so I like to have my fun in short bursts. Parties. I'm likely going to attend an expensive charity gig at the art museum once we get back. If you want to spend the gold on a suit and ticket, you are welcome to tag along. If that is a bit rich for your blood, I'd be more than happy to take you down to goblin town for a few rounds of drinks in Lower Dura on the cheap if we are on leave long enough."

Mr. Shredder falls silent for a few seconds. "They have fight pits down there too, if you are the sort of person who derives pleasure from the more violent aspects of his work. You could make some extra change if you are brave enough to wrestle a bugbear or two!"

Detlas thinks for a moment, his dull gaze shifting up for a second, before settling back down on Shredder.
"I don't drink." He's silent for a bit more, before asking, "How much is a ticket?"

"The ticket is going to run you 50gp. You are also going to need some nice clothes, so tack on another 15. Once you get in the door, you are going to have to actually buy some art if you want people to take you seriously, so if you are looking to use to party to extablish contacts with the upper class of Sharn, expect to spend yet another 100 galifars. If you just want to enjoy the music, art, idle conversation, and complementary food, you be fine just budgeting the 65 for food and clothes."

The Hobgoblin pauses for a second, before deciding to gauge the human's ambition. "Important members of House Lyrandar leadership often attend these art events, so showing up and looking respectable is perhaps the best way to go about looking for a promotion. Of course, you'd need to earn the rank of House Agent before you could even get the time of day from those folks. I could recommend you for that position if you were to give me 60 days work at the House Lyrandar offices."

"I don't care for contacts and interior politics." He says, normally plain voice carrying some sudden aggression.
"But the few times I saw art when I was on leave was...decent. I'll go with you. Thank you for the invitation, sir." Detlas continues, tone lightening. "But I have only ever worn my fatigues and an officer's uniform. I do not know what would be ideal for something like this."

A slight look of disappointment passes Mr. Shredder's face as the soldier disavows politics... but the frown quickly breaks. The Hobgoblin is quite sure that Jundar will prove useful to him nonetheless.

He nods. "Very good. The clothes should prove no problem at all. Just spend a day at the Tradefair Market, pick any vendor selling clothes, and tell them you want to attend a fundraiser at the Brelish Museum. Any merchant worth his salt should be able to sort you out. They might try to sell you a more expensive outfit, and buying it might be worth your while if you intend to attend multiple parties. People will talk if you wear the same gettup to a museum party twice! ...unless it is one of those super expensive glamorweave numbers."
