The last of the crew loaded on (including a few characters still in the works). A whistle was blown. Cylia d'Sivis' voice filled the ship, clearly audible in every room and on the deck at an ordinary conversational tone. "Attention all passengers and crew, the Astral Kraken is now departing. Over the next four hours we will be gaining altitude before coming up on dawn as we cross over the Lhazaar Sea. At that time, we will have sufficient altitude to safely deploy Spelljammer Sails. If you would like to be paged at that time, please report to the communications tower."
For those on the deck, the journey visibly began, with the high tower slowly fading away behind you. The ship moved slowly at first, and within a few minutes, was moving away from the city about twice as fast as a man can sprint. A sea of lights below and above surrounded the ship, broken only as it passed beside the Skyway, where a small crowd had gathered to watch the ship take off from a pleasant public park.
The Astral Kraken traveled mostly upwards. The air remained relatively still, thanks to the enchantments, with just enough of a breeze for Kayto d'Lyrandar's jacket to be swept dramatically back as he gripped the Wheel of Wind and Water, a brass and darkwood ship's wheel with a Syberis Dragonshard the size of a wedding cake at it's center.
