Why, it utterly boggles the mind that you are going at each other rather than the instrument of Mod trickery upon our very existence. Why, this Sheldon might even be some sort of horrible being like a youtuber, with Markiplier coming to mind as a certainly most random and not at all deliberate example.

Sorry for potentially tying the vote. Oh, wait, I mean sorry that you care. See, I don't CARE if I tie the votes for two reasons. The first is because fuck you I can vote who I want, especially if I believe their scum, and especially if I think his attitude is detrimental to Town.

How the hell is it? Scum wins if town does nothing. I've won games in the past as scum because town did nothing. Oh, sure, in this game scum picks the kill if there is a tie, but the tie does exert pressure on the town to get off their arses and DO SOMETHING. Notice how you are not actually trying to untie the vote, by the by.

I could also repeat Wubba's or Caz's arguments, but I am glad we moved away from that meta a while ago.

It is indeed a Bad Idea, given that this is a BYOR, and a BYOR without kills at that. You have already pretty much stated the ideas. But to restate them: because there is no kill, Fallacy not only has to balance the game around it, but it also is free to make people rather strong and full of crazy abilities.

Teneb, Persus13: Is it easier to avoid conflict by voting for the friendly assist bot than an actual person? Why do you think that voting for the assist bot is more helpful than scumhunting?

I am in a private chat with the bot, and it is a little more active and antagonistic there. Which, ya know, has me worried about mod fuckery.

TBF is fishing like there's no tomorrow; while MS is seemingly throwing votes around randomly, though my read on them from both this game and meta-knowledge from seeing them around the forum is that they just don't give a shit about justifying their choices... which is still either scum behaviour or bad town playing. But I have privileged information on Perses and would like them to post more. A whole lot more.

Well, I think from reading his posts that something may have changed between him voting for Persus, and then standing up for him.

I don't know his alignment, but I do know what his role is about: getting power through lurking.

No. One of my powers is knowing Persus' role name, at the price he knowing mine. Only his. Fortunately, his name is very descriptive, while mine isn't.

In the interest of not being coy and actually contributing to the Town's base of knowledge, his role name is "The BYOR Role that Rewards Lurking" while mine is "A Shitpost".

I have no info on his alignment, but lurking is bad for town anyway.

In the interest of time, because I'd prefer to see posts on other stuff, its less of a private chat with Sheldon and more of a mason-style chat for Teneb and me, that Sheldon crashed. Its pretty dull so far since I don't have a good read on Teneb yet and I'm sure the feelings mutual on that. The most exciting thing is Sheldon showed up and decided to start rolefishing us. This chat is from the same Auto that lets us know each other role names.

I can confirm this. We are in the Useless Topic chat. My vote for Sheldon happened after it barged into our private chat of no use because why the hell talk through there when you have no clue what team the other person is in.

And wow, it's almost as if various people in the game have certain post restrctions or, at the very least, the encouragement to post in a specific way, which I don't see in your interactions with TBF because he might as well not exist to you.

Obviously, Teneb is under a post restriction of having to mention a particular piece of pop culture in every post. D1 it was a youtuber, D2 it's evidently a song. I wouldn't recommend posting their names yourself, it's possible he has an ability that affects you if you do.

From what I have read however, it seems like Tri and Caz are at it, and at the moment I'm slightly leaning to one over the other, but still unsure between the two. For all I know its a massive misunderstanding and both aren't actually bad...

That's a start. Welcome to Mafia. Only some folks here are secretly trying to kill you. Ask questions, be active, be smart. I really recommend you try to read through the whole thread, but there's a lot of salt day 1, so don't let that put you off. If you don't understand something, asking for help is the best way to get it.

... he keep obsessing with what a role can or cannot do. When pressed for explanations on things, he just makes obscure references, talks nonsense and uses circular logic. He keeps going with the most popular vote until he turns out to be said vote and appears to either lack reading comprehension or is being deliberately dense (example: I have outright claimed I need to talk about certain things, like his interactions with TBF and The fittingness of Destroid's song Annihilate in the final boss battle of Just Shapes and Beats and how it relates to what might happen today (which, personally, I think it has no fittingness at all), yet he keeps acting mystified).

Even if he isn't somehow scum, he's still anti-town. And anti-town, as the name implies, is detrimental to the town's wincon.

Yeah, I have been reading through the whole thread, not done yet though, but so far I suspect TBF, Icy tea, Caz, and Web the most. I'm not going to make any proper solid conclusions on them yet till I'm done with reading.

@Persus: My thoughts on the game so far: it's a flaming shipwreck.  TricMagic has clearly lost the plot somewhere and is haring off on a wild goose chase that they should really stop doing.  There's too many replacements.
Am I surprised I haven't been voted more: Ehh.  Not really?  There have been a lot of higher priority targets than me, though I'm rather concerned I won't get to do anything with my role at this rate.  Night-skipping powers are no friend to investigators.

@DA: I take issue with "with no explanation", I thought my motivation was rather clear.  I want TricMagic to stop chasing shadows.  As for being a valuable asset: I don't know.  My role was effectively blasted out by the "no night" thing, so that doesn't exactly help, and quite honestly I have a weak day game.  But I could be effective, given time.
