I'm new to Dwarf Fortress, so I may be missing something obvious, but my box select is not working. It was working fine in the past, but this time it was messed up. There are two issues here.
- First, the alt+m keybinding doesn't work. It's worked fine in the past and I haven't changed any settings so I know I'm pressing the right keys, but it doesn't activate. Other keybindings with alt and m work fine, so it's just an issue with that specific one. There's about a 1/20 chance of it working though.
- Secondly, If I am able to turn on box select, it's stuck on. Once I turn it on (just by pressing it a bunch) it works, but if I turn it off again (also by pressing it a bunch) it still stays enabled. The text in the menu reads that it's turned off, but it's actually on.
I'm using the lazy newb pack with dwarf therapist and soundsense, and I haven't changed any settings.

Fix: I did a full reinstallation of the starter pack

I wasn't perfectly sure what you were asking about, but my curiosity was piqued and as nobody had seemingly yet been able to answer you I went searching.

Does perhaps this thread a) describe your problem and b) give you a way to getting you to do what you're trying to do?

If not, perhaps describe your thing a bit more.

Thanks for the response. I modified my original question to be more specific, and I've looked at the thread you linked to but it seems to be a different issue. It's possible I'm missing something in that thread, but I think it's a different issue because the shortcut has worked fine in the past for me. When I have the chance I'm going to back up my worlds and do a reinstall of df and see if that fixes it.

Try pressing and releasing all of your modifier keys and see if that helps. Maybe one is stuck down (or Windows thinks it is).

Unlike that thread, you are pressing alt+m, right? Not alt+shift+m?
