Sapient Item (SG)
« on: August 14, 2018, 12:09:24 am »

You are the kind of thing tales are told about. The steel, glass, or other scrape of the earth, melded together with spirit -- a truly living thing ensconced in what would normally be an inanimate object. Yet due to the fickleness of the ages, you may either be known well, or barely a footnote in history; the very whisper of your name may conjure nightmares, or you may yet be sealed away, as you were at your making, waiting only for the time to be used.

In any case, the time of your sealing is about to end.

And the time... your time... is set to begin.

-----

What is this? This is a suggestion game where you all essentially play as a living object. It could be a sword, amulet, orb, set of armor, etc.; the guiding principle is that that object is sapient, possessing its own mind. The players form the inner voice of the construct. You will have the ability to communicate with the world, though the method of this communication may vary; see below.

What can we do? Your first order of business is to decide that. What are you? What sort of item makes up your base structure? What kind of abilities might you possess? I'm leaving room for creativity here, just nothing too obviously godlike in power or scale, that sort of thing. The second thing to do is decide on a name for yourself. You may also think of a backstory if you like; feel free to make it high fantasy or even sci-fi, I am kinda running this game as a thought experiment more than anything. I'll make up the place, time, etc. by default.

Where are we? That will be decided after we know what -- and, indeed, who -- you are.

Name: Magical Cat Statue

Appearance: A small, seemingly mundane ceramic statue of a Siamese cat. Maybe 30 cm in length and 15 in height.

Backstory: Created by the cat god Felius, Harbinger of Catnip, Herald of Kittens, Bane of Dogs to spread the word of Cats.

Powers: The Magical Cat Statue is able to move when in view of a cat, otherwise it is unable to move, has telekinetic powers (can lift small to medium objects or make humans fall over), and can telepathically communicate with other cats or its owner. The MCS is enchanted to be not as fragile as a normal ceramic statue. It has a special ability: when it is pet by anyone, the Magical Cat Statue gains the ability to:

a) Let out a deafening meow.

b) Fire lasers out of its eyes.

c) Permanently give human-level intelligence and ability to speak to all cats in sight.

After it spent 2 minutes in this state, the Magical Cat Statue goes inert for about 15 minutes.

The Statue would start in the Temple of Felius, just now summoned into this (fantasy) world. Probably to be used by a Cat Paladin or something.

We are a sword. A small sword with bronze fittings set with brilliant gems. Our blade is made from fine steel and is unadorned. We were created by an ancient and powerful smith of legend. However we were only practice to him and as soon as he was finished with us he sold us to a wandering merchant. He, however, didn’t know of the full power he had wrought. We have no name and as yet no legacy but we will. We will bring the rise and fall of kingdoms and dynasties. Soon the fate of the world will balance upon the edge of our blade. But first we must choose a suitable weilder to purchase us from this traveling peddler.

We can communicate with anyone in our immediate vicinity. However we can only communicate in vague concepts and by triggering emotions.

Sutina [grave goods] is the name given to very specific artifact class nobody knows the exact origin of these items of power but they usually have some have a macabre history like being stolen by grave robbers or having all their former owners killed sutina are uncommon and there is very little information about their existence or location what is known is that those items are not your standard
Passive cursed relics but they have some form of intelligence including a predatory urge and a terrible hunger.

This was just an example of the top of my head for a class of artifacts.

We are Udiruthgúrurist, a black dagger wrought of shadows and misery, having been twisted into this form from the fragmented soul of a demon in a time when nightmares wreaked havoc upon the world. Our origin lies in a bloody ritual carried out by a sect which sought to seal away the horror from which we were cleaved. Our ultimate goal is to reunite with what remains of our master, so that we may become whole once more.

Although we are but a shadow of our former self, we have retained sufficient power to influence the psyche of nearby mortals by manipulating dreams, implanting compulsions in the weak-minded, and other such methods.  Moreover, should our blade pierce flesh, we are able to infiltrate and possess the victim in its entirety, effectively gaining control of its body and access to its memories. We are unfortunately only strong enough to possess a single creature at any one time, so subsequent stabs will result in our scope of control jumping from one host to another.

We have spent millennia untold hidden in some obscure corner of the world, isolated within an underground temple-vault which has long fallen into disrepair. Over recent years, we have become increasingly aware of vibrations potentially caused by mining activity in the vicinity.

As mentioned in the previous turn, the most exciting field of battle this year will be in the Arstotzkan capitol, with plenty of close-quarter fighting and siege warfare.  Arstotzka, accordingly, spent their design phase developing a high-altitude tactical bomber.

We should wait until one of the miners notice our fair beauty and when we get sold on the market  we should through trade naturally pass from hand to hand till we get to richest city in the region where we can find a hopefully rich and noble host and try to guide this host to more riches and titles
for we need the resources. For the second part of my plan we need to study the magic of this world and how our artifact body works If all goes well we should seek to infuse us with more powers.

Ps screw the demon we should put our own interests above that of some minor imps whims
We decide our own fate.
The game didn't start yet.

We are FORKNOR, a fork of POWER! Created by seven cutlersmiths in a plate of steel and flame! Our form is a simple stainless steel four pronged table fork. Our ultimate goal is to ascend to godhood.

We possess the ability to shapeshift into other fork forms and inflict deadly piercing wounds on our foes! Forks near us can be called to our aid, sending them streaking towards foes! In addition, we can telepathically communicate with most humanoids within 30 feet.

Unfortunately, hard times has brought us to the destroyed shrine of a long forgotten god of smithing, located in the slums district of a large city.
