This is a bump to let those few of you know what I have planned for the next update. Note that the names are not accurate for the in-game names or even necessarily the sizes, and based more on what illustration/models evoke to me, and will thus be used by the tribes of my other mod. I'm also lifting my ban on flight capable critters, so suggest away.
Also @ Meph - Gonna avoid doing any vanilla file fiddling.
DF Prehistorics - Gremlins
Taking a page from masterwork. Like trolls, gremlins once came in many forms and were spread across the surface. Their universal love of mischief making has lead to thier eventual extinction.
Cave Gremlin - Vanilla gremlins, with a mountain biome inclusion.
Swamp Gremlin - Capable of fishing, these long-clawed gremlins are found in wetlands.
Forest Gremlin - A thieving little shit found in both temperate and tropical forests, as well as wetlands. Make sure to keep your valuables locked behind something.
Desert Gremlin - Like desert trolls, they are slightly stunted, but strong. They'll try to get through light barricades by force. Unlike desert trolls, they'll try to sneak around knocking things over on thier quest to of stealing food or drink.
Mammals
Pliopithicus (COMPLETE) - unlike gremlins above, the Pliopithecus (as Woodland Apes, found in temperate forests,) Pliopithicus occurs in groups of up to 10, and as requested, will be "item stealing, alcohol drinking, lever manhandler." I made them a little bit bigger than gibbons they were apparently the size of, and with naturally high discipline, so they'll be more likely to try and storm your stockpiles and mess with everything.
Thrinaxodon - Fat Otter - Move in small groups, they're bigger than standard otters, and found along rivers, lakes, and temperate forests. Vermin hunter.
Cynognathus - Sabretoothed Otter - twice the size of an otter, and extremely fierce. Found in temperate biomes and trainable.
Reptiles/Early Synapsids
Ophiacodon - Large-head Lizard - These big beasts of predatory reptiles are going to be just a bit smaller than a cow. Trainable.
Cotylorhynchus - Fat-bodied Lizard - Given the look of it, I'm gonna assume it's a grazer that fed on shrubbery. These big bastards will be a cow and a half in size.
Varanops - Dog Lizard - The general size comparison chart leads me to assume a size of a wolf would work. Trainable.
Tritylodon - Furred Lizard - About the size of a cat. At least the illustration on wikipedia looked like a furry lizard. Vermin hunter.
Lystrosaurus - Shovel-beaked Lizard - Roughly the size of a pig, they'll be grazers found in temperate biomes in groups up to four.
Invertabrates
Primitive Dragonfly - As the Long Biter Fly, found in temperate and tropical forests and wetlands, the size of a cat (to be worth the trouble of including them.) Too stupid to train.
Optional Entities
Neanderthal - As the Forstwalkers, they set up shop in cold biomes (Tundra, Taiga, and Temperate Forests.) They can use pack animals to trade and primarily offer wooden and leather items and meats or fish. Their warriors have access to a mix of Madum and Forestman kits, using clubs, war spears, long knives (a sword skill weapon,) and hunting spears fd or ranged combat, with bone armor for protection. As stated previously, they will be bigger than dwarves, but smaller than regular humans.
Hostile Version - Some tribes of Frostwalkers are hostile to those they deem outsiders, trespassers, or what have you.
Homo Erectus - As Flat-faced Men, thier homes are found in temperate grasslands and forests. They have learned how to trade using pack animals, by watching other people's caravans. Equipped similarly to the Frostwalkers, being limited in weaponry and having only crude armor for protection. In terms of size they'll be slightly smaller than dwarves or elves.
Hostile Version - Some tribes of Flat-faced Men are poorly organized and get by via hunting and theft.
Homo Habilis - As Furred Men, they are a skulking entity, and very poorly equipped with war spears, hunting spears for ranged combat, and clubs. They will be smaller again, being a bit smaller than Homo Erectus.
Misc
Trilobite shells and chitin will be millable as thier description advertises, into dye or oil-paste.
What do you guys think, think that'll be a nice and solid selection of things for an update? I need something simple to work on while I wait for Meph's next proper update to his tileset.
