And as soon as you drop of the cells, you leave. Turns out that Alpha-Theta 435 leave just as you do.

Alpha-Theta 435:
You leave with Yt'Uixaef and during the journey try to find your homeland. Not only do you get nowhere near figuring out where your homeland is, but you also put so much effort and power in the search that you fall behind the transport by 3 lightyears.

Group:
You arrive at Fa23-II and start dropping off the colonist and their equipment, the escort arrives about 15 hours later. All that is here is a spaceport on the ground and a satellite network. There are no other ships in orbit.

Because your ship is so small it is able to land at the space port, in fact you were already there to off load the colonist and equipment.

Alpha-Theta 435:
Arriving in the Fa23 system you notice that the mini transport is on the ground at the space port.

Group:
The colonist are very appreciated of the new shipment of supplies and manpower. The space port only has 1 merchant and a commander that let's you know right off the bat that there is no mission they can give you. For all intents and purposes you are on your own.

lets press for a different kind of job: do they need any supplies such as building materials or food delivered here? What commodities are in short supply?

We are on the frontier, albeit the inner frontier, fut still in the last 2 weeks we have been attacked by raiders. In fact just yesterday raiders attacked and took 1 of our terraformers. Unfortunately if you do agree to help protet us there is not much we can offer." The commander seems a bit reluctant to ask for help.

bargain for him spreading our reputation and possibly increasing our connections in exchange for having my mercenary team on his station to deal with the pirate raid.

He stares at you for a good minute or 2 and finally says, "If we could get them in space before they land that would be best. Because they just come in shooting and land for only a minute to try and steal something and then take off again do another strafing run or two and book it. The come in a squadron of fighters(you would know this as 16 fighter) and have an escort as their base of operations. In fact just having your escort in orbit might deter them."

if my buddies want to take their two ships and leave, get a corvette and a pilot. My mercenary buddies can man the guns. Regardless, stay on alert for pirates and look for an opportunity to ambush them.

Stay  at orbit, attempt to find good place for ambushing pirates like asteroid field, have navigations officer report any incoming signs on sensors.

With Ciradwin's team on the ground, Alpha-Theta 435's escort hiding in a crater on the moon of the planet, and Yt'Uixaef's transport ready to evacuate you all are in position. It takes 4 days but a pirate ship comes into the system. Either they cannot see your ship or do not care that it is there. They are at the edge of the system, 15 AU out.

From what you can judge from the stellar maps is that there it is a 55% chance of the west, 20% chance of the south, 20% chance of the north, and a 5% chance of the east.
