From the cabinet you remove a pair of sandals, a thigh-length skirt, and a black T-shirt depicting one of your favorite bands, Rasta-Billy Skrank. Though you're loathe to admit it, you enjoy their music unironically. Hmm, this feels alright. You can't wait to try on more of the clothes you got, but one thing at a time. With the control square in the corner, you turn the tint on your window wall up until you can see your reflection and admire the results for a bit before letting the sunlight back in, the light strips around the edges of the ceiling adjusting automatically back down.
Your door slides open with a push and you step out into the hall. There's your sibling's room across from yours, the guest room and the bathroom (which exists solely for guests) to the left, and the stairs down to the right. At the left end of the hall, the wall slides back to reveal a stairway to the roof and a little closet, but it's hardly ever opened. You head downstairs to the kitchen, another space that exists mostly for guests but does see some regular use. It's easier to prepare consumptions of more specific content here, and you've been dabbling with real food since you built those taste receptors. The room is simple enough, the usual things along the walls and the island in the middle, everything based on sleek, black rectangular boxes. An incubator using waste heat from the fridge, where you keep certain microcultures for seasoning.
You see your sibling, Tenjelen, watering the flowers in the kitchen window. Their form is, you'd say, utilitarian: four bigger tendrils for walking, two smaller ones for grasping, four more for seeing, all radially symmetrical. No bones, just some coiled support fibers. It's fine, you suppose, though you always say proper limbs are best for hard work. As you step off the stairs, they point two eye-stalks and their speech-pump at you. "Joilyc, you look ridiculous."
