Fledgling Mage SG
« on: July 28, 2018, 01:17:01 pm »

It was a day like any other when you went down the mainroad. Birds were chirping and a few cars were riding on the twoway lane. Little did you know that your life was about the change.

What is your name?
What is your age? (Pick a number between 15-65)
What is your occupation?
Order from most to least: Physical, Mental, Social
What is your goal in life?
What is your biggest fear?

As you pass the man you recognize from the car dealership commercials, you gather your thoughts for the test who is about to come. Today is your test day for Professor Gabelius. A brilliant scientist, frowned upon by some close-minded geneticists, but well of inspiration for the ones like you. Several weeks ago you read his job offering in the New Athens Gazette and as you recently finished your dr. you are free to take interesting opportunities, and this is certainly an interesting one.
A few years ago Dr. Gabelius stated the theory that he found the way to reproduce ancient dna and to create dinosaurs. Several times through the years, cryptic news about his work were published. Within his publications he uses a weird termology speaking of ectobodies and lifetime meters, which is why many people have turned their heads away to more conventional genetical sciences. You however adeptly researched his findings and at times it seemed that you understood his theory, though it seems impossible by the understandings of physical sciences. In theory he speaks about summuning the "memory" of the fossil at hand, using the fossil as reagent. With the aid of the "memory" one can splice the ancient dna. He goes into deep detail how to enact a summoning.

As you enter the brown, brick house, you wouldn't have expected the office to be so comfortable and fancy. At the desk, a black haired secretary is sorting through some files. As she pulls one out, she notices you and smiles fadely. "Welcome at Dr. Gabelius office. You must be Dr. Albert Smycke, am I right."
You nod.
"Please take a seat, Dr. Gabelius will be here soon. Oh and help yourself to some food. There on the table."

You sit down and you see a plate with salami pizza and a plate of muffins sparkled with purple and pink bits on the coffee table. The room is adornished with degrees, african masks, a library, and some interesting looking dinosaur clay statues.

Obviously they have been drugged and the only course of action is to eat them and find out what the drugs do.

Eat the obviously drugged muffins.

As you feel a bit hungry, you only had a sandwhichg with cheddar for breakfast, you decide on eating one of the muffins. A sweet philharmony of tastes strikes your tongue as you take your first bite. You haven't tasted a muffy so yummy before, so you eagerly gulp it up and feel quite strengthened by it. With your newfound power, you stand up and walk through the room, towards the huge mahagony bookshelf to take note of the books Dr. Gabelius has hoarded here. You see quite many works on philosophy, ordered from Ancient to Modern. Quite many epochal works in this section, but nothing strikes you as too interesting, even though you had your own escapades with the works of Aristotle and Nitzsche. Further on the right you find scientific publications of different matters. Obviously there is many works on the biological sciences, especially on genetics, but there is also quite many books on chemistry and physics. One section strikes you as especially interesting. It is filled with leatherbound books, and scrolls, on themes such as "Metaphysics of Ectoplasmic Appearances", "The Stabilization of Body/Soul Compositions", and "Spirit Cooking - Your recipes for creating the New". Even if your scientific mindset disregards these works as weird nonsense, considering their titles, a part of you puts deep meaning in the books, and it seems that they emanate a glow when you pass them, which strengthens as you pick up "Metaphysics of Ectoplasmic Appearances". You open the book and take a glimpse at the Author's name on the first page, which is Rash Ka Da Loom.

You hear a cough right behind you, and as you turn around you see a man in a brown tweed suit with a horn rimmed pair of glasses, and a big brown beard with dashes of grey. "You must be Dr. Albert Smycke." As he looks down at your hands his eyes widen as he realizes what you are holding. "Interesting work you have picked up there, even though it is quite old and some of the scientific conclusions are outdated, the overall theory of it is still valid to this day. I recommend you studying this work if you manage to impress me enough today that is." At this he chuckles.
"Why don't you come with me then." You nod and you follow him, as he opens a door at the back of the room. You both wander down a long spiral staircase, and after about fifty steps the walls changed, as now they were not brick anymore but rather plated with steel.
"Security reasons, can't make your lab safe enough in my humble opinion."
After a long time, it seems like you actually walked five minutes down that endless staircase you enter a small room with a metal door, that has a round handle, similar to sub doors, or at least how you know them from movies. Dr. Gabelius enters a code in a small keypad at the side of the door, and starts turning the door wheel. The door opens, and as you enter you find an array of weird looking contraptions, reminding you of the old fifties' science fiction movies. Blinking boxes, with levers, glassbowls with electricity moving chaotically within them, strange helmets with antenna sticking out of them. At the wall you see several aquariums and terrariums containing different breeds of reptiles, amphibia, and fish. He presses a button and from the floor a table with a weird robotic arm appear. On the table you see a fossil and a clay statue, not unlike the ones you saw in his office upstairs.

"Put on that helmet please." He hands you the helmet, and as you put it on he continues, "Now, when I switch your helmet on, you should see a display with menu options at the top and a blue filter, filtering the objects you can see through the helmet. I will turn it on now." He presses a button, and you immediately see the menu and also a blue subtone of colour on different objects in the room. "Can you see the menu and the blue colouration?" Dr. Gabelius asks. You nod and he says, "Splendid, I had a good feeling about you from the start. Now focus on the fossil please and tell me..." An ancient phone rings, and Dr. Gabelius in the mid of his sentence, picks up and asks grudgingly "What is it Claire? Oh, okay.... I will come upstairs. Yes, try to keep them entertianed until I arrive, okay. Yes. Yes.... See you soon!" At that he leaves, leaving you with the weird contraptions and that helmet on. Looking around you notice that some objects seem to emanate the blue glow, but other objects do not. You can't find a pattern at this. Looking around the room, you suddenly hear a loud bang from upstairs.

You begin looking around the room for only a short while, due to the fact that your interest is with the fossiles. You recognize them to be a perfectly conditioned Nemicolopterus, a small flying animal that was originally found in china. It is famous for being the smalles flying reptile yet to be found. As you concentrate on the fossil you notice that the blue glow it is emanating sowly changes. Crude markings, like the ones of animals can be found in orange red and brown, and there is a thin green line going in a spiral within the fossil. These shapes interact and change into one another, and seem to be held together by the blue glow. Fascinated by this play of colour and shape, you don't notice the black haired secretary who came down from upstairs.

You DO notice her when she starts yelling. She has her sleeves, rolled up, and from her elbow a robotic arm is pointed at the staircase. Strangely this arm is wielding a wooden wand.
"QUICK, concentrate on that corner over there, there is no time..." She points at a corner which isn't crowded with stuff. "Hurry up!"
