Destruction of newly constructed trebuchets is actually fine. It tells us where the rangers are (especially if we get both construction and supporting wood gathering in one hour). When the trebuchets stop being destroyed we'll know they are moving to another camp and we can estimate when they'll arrive and move trebuchets to compensate. Accounting for wood gathering, ideal strength for trebuchet production is actually 48.

We've got four different plans here, but no consensus on which one to go with. I need votes people!  ;D

As no one has really expressed a big change of opinion I suspect the first option has a majority, but let's what the vote box tells us.

Karguk's Horde - Monday 12:00 'til  Monday 18:00

Quote from: Plan:You Must Gather The Horde Before Venturing Forth
18 Goblins + 9 Orcs: Gather Forces (27 units) [6 hours]
6 Orcs + 6 Trolls: Gather Wood (30 strength) [30w per hour]

The Horde is sent forth to gather supplies and grow in number. By the time they return, six hours later, 180 wood has been stockpiled. It will be quite a job to work and transport, but it is an excellent start to producing the equipment needed.

The other half of the Horde returns soon after. Half is however quite the understatement, as they now number well over double the forces currently working the last of the timber. A brief headcount later confirms you have gained 13 goblin gangs, 10 orc outfits and 4 troll tribes.

The one downside from this plan is that no-one is close enough to the castle to see what they are up to. You'll have to move a unit to at least a Staging Area for basic reports, and to the Ramparts or even the base of the Walls if you want more detail.

Night will fall in 2 hours, and is dawn is expected at 8am tomorrow.

+13 Goblins
+10 Orcs
+4 Trolls
+180 Wood

So- Whos up for sending all the goblins back out while everyone else chops wood and builds weapons of fort destruction?

It would be useful to send out some goblins to the ramparts at night. We could use them to build stakes hopefully without alerting the fort. We might want to hold off on that until the next night though.

10 Trolls + 10 Orcs is 50 strength in construction. There is a bunch of stuff we need including trebuchets, but getting some construction workers to the south camp will pay off in the long term in spreading our siege equipment out.

Proposal:
7 Trolls + 8 Orcs (37 strength) build 6 trebuchets [6 hours, -72 wood]
3 Trolls + 4 Orcs (17 strength) build 6 mantlets [6 hours, -24 wood]
1 Unit Goblins move to West Staging Area [4 hours]
1 Unit Goblins move to East Staging Area [4 hours]
29 Goblin Gangs, 13 Orc Outfits Gather Forces (42 units), [6 hours]
Leaving us with 84 wood.

Detaching the Orcs and Goblins loses us 4 units (or ~7 if we continue sending almost everything to recruit for a third time) which I think should be worth it; the Orcs increase production immensely while the Goblins can provide some basic recon and trigger spot any traps set by the defending rangers. I think moving units for construction can wait until we decide to move out combat forces to cover the camps; at that point anything already built can be carried and besides I'd prefer to have West and East well equipped and providing pressure sooner rather than all three delayed.

As pointed out by the other team, I forgot to mention when nightfall is. Night lasts from 8pm, until 8am. During this time, your goblins are unaffected, but all other units (including the defenders) will have to operate by torchlight.

We have a proposal from Top hat, assuming no dissent I'll roll with that tonight.

Mat be not that night, but have ca turn.  I wrote this on my phone, so let me know if you spot any errors.

Karguk's Horde - Monday 18:00 'til Tuesday 00:00

Proposal:
7 Trolls + 8 Orcs (37 strength) build 6 trebuchets [6 hours, -72 wood]
3 Trolls + 4 Orcs (17 strength) build 6 mantlets [6 hours, -24 wood]
1 Unit Goblins move to West Staging Area [4 hours]
1 Unit Goblins move to East Staging Area [4 hours]
29 Goblin Gangs, 13 Orc Outfits Gather Forces (42 units), [6 hours]
Leaving us with 84 wood.

The two engineering teams work into the night. Some trolls lift the heaviest lumber and hold them in place while others hammer them together with their stone hard fists. The orcs direct them, occasionally stepping in to perform the delicate tasks that bucket sized hands are not equipped to perform. After six hours, six mantlets and six trebuchets are completed.

Meanwhile, the first greenskins make their approach towards the castle. Runners confirm that both gangs arrived safely two hours after dusk, and reports state that there are defenders stationed at every tower and wall section on the Northern half of the castle, as well as the north gatehouse. We do not know their deployment at the south half.  For more detail units would have to move closer.

Speaking of units,  your forces have brought back additional reinforcements. They have returned with 25 Goblin Gangs, 14 Orc Outfits and 4 Troll Tribes.

Trebuchet are a long range siege engine, thst allows you to batter down the enemy castle. When at a Staging Area, they may be crewed by a unit of goblins or orcs and targeted at a wall, gatehouse or tower attached connected to any Rampart linked with that Staging Area. Each hour, a die is rolled per trebuchet. On a 6 the castle section is damaged. Trebuchet can also be deployed at a Rampart, allowing it to cause damage on a 4+, however it will be more vulnerable to counter attack.

Dawn is in Eight Hours.

+6 Mantlets
+6 Trebuchets
+25 Goblin Gangs
+14 Orc Outfits
+4 Troll Tribes

1 Goblin Gang moved from Central Camp to Staging Area West
1 Goblin Gang moved from Central Camp to Staging Area East

-96 Wood

So, should we just send everyone to get more wood and soldiers?

Our recruitment is going well enough we can afford to be a little more active than that.
Quote from: Plan Object Lessons
Objectives
Determine Ranger effectiveness
Get our Trebuchets operational.
Move Engineering Teams closer to the battlefield.
Maintain strong recruitment.

Central Camp Orders
3 Goblin + 7 Orcs + 7 Trolls Move to West Staging Area (Carrying 3 Trebuchets+3 Mantlets+20w) [4 hours]
3 Goblin + 7 Orcs + 7 Trolls Move to East Staging Area (Carrying 3 Trebuchets+3 Mantlets+20w) [4 hours]
48 Goblins + 25 Orcs Recruit (73 units) [6 hours]

West Staging Area Orders (After 4 hours)
3 Goblins crew 3 Trebuchets (Fire on towers connected to North ramparts) [Ongoing]
1 Goblin + 7 Orcs + 7 Trolls Gather Wood [2 hours]

East Staging Area Orders (After 4 hours)
3 Goblins crew 3 Trebuchets (Fire on towers connected to North ramparts) [Ongoing]
1 Goblin + 7 Orcs + 7 Trolls Gather Wood [2 hours]

Breakpoint
If any Trebuchets are lost to Rangers
We will probably want to switch an engineering group over to building Trebuchets.
Alternatively we may wish to send them south.
