Both would be viable options, but the two methods would have different effects. You'd know through basic experimentation that you can create an alloy with it as well as a powered core, but the effects will have to be discovered through experimentation via design. Experimentation and failure are integral parts of this Arms Race. Failures will rarely waste an action. There's a lot going on under the hood in regards to these resources, and I think you guys are going to enjoy it.

So, I decided to prioritize the Gorgon over the Iron Rain due to finding out a few things that I hadn't known about before with regards to artillery. There is now also a 3 way tie between the pistol, the trench shotgun, and the Iron Rain.

Also, I'd still like for there to be a numerical/letter designation for the designs, so if anyone has suggestions, that would be great.

My proposal:

Rifle- ARA Model-001A
Pistol- ARA Model-001B

Here, 001 is the mechanism designator. It tells us that these guns are all based on the same mechanism. This way, when we upgrade, it becomes 002. The letter A indicates primary weapon. All primary weapons will be A's. B indicates secondary weapon, M indicates a machine gun, C indicates a shotgun/cqc weapon. Not sure how to adjust for other branches, like Arty or vehicles.

That looks alright, but Man of Paper gave us an actual starting year! Apparently, it's 1911 AC. So the rifle would be the ARA Model-1911A and the pistol would be the ARA Model-1911B. I like it.

For air vehicles, we could do Abberan Royal Air Corps (ARAC) and then the class name and purpose. So that airship design I made would the ARAC-Monitor-S.

Other vehicles, I'm not sure about.

Artillery could be Abberan Royal Infantry Support (ARIS) followed by year, type, and then intended range. So the Gorgon would be ARIS-1911-H/L for Abberan Royal Infantry Support, 1911 Howitzer Long-Range.

Numerical designations are nice, and I'm pretty sure that Colt would sue us for that.

Because artillery is still part of the Abbara royal armoury unlike airships.
Artillery can use the designation ART, easy simple and exactly what a good explosion is.

A for rifles (primary weapons (battle rifles, assault rifle)
B for pistols
C for shotgun
M for machineguns
SM for sub machineguns.
AT for antitank
S for sniper rifles.
ART for artillery. (Iron rain would count under this)

I think a shotgun would be the most effective design between the semi auto pistol and the trench gun so I'm switching my vote from iron rain to the Draco.

On another note altogether the discussion of the 50kg super hammer got me thinking; the arguments against it working were sound and yet something that is lifted up by Caelium and then dropped could do a lot of damage. That got me thinking about how Caelium could likely use less energy to raise something a distance than energy is released when that thing falls. My conclusion was that we must do SCIENCE so I have a number of small Caelium experiments I'd like to do packaged together as a research revision to give us a better understanding of the properties of this material.

 This revision test a number of hypotheses in regard to Caelium to grant us a better understanding of the substance.

Hypothesis 1;
The energy imparted by an impact from a Caelium lifted object is the same energy used to propel the object into the collision and nothing more. No new energy enters the system.

Experiment 1;
A small sled is setup on a rail that leads to a thin metal plate. The sled is propelled by a blast of compressed air. The metal plate is connected to a force gauge that measures the maximum force it was hit with. The sled is loaded with an inactive Caelium core, some small weights and a sturdy flat prow to collide with the plate. The experiment is then calibrated with collisions until the sled can reliably hit the plate. Once that is done a number of control runs are preformed to get a baseline. For the next set of collisions after the control is done with core active the whole way across the rail. After that set there is another set where the sled is blasted with air to accelerate it while the core is active but the core deactivates before impact midway across the track. The finial set is where the core is deactivate at propulsion but activates half way down the track.

Expected results for Experiment 1: We expect the sled to be traveling faster while the core is on but decreasing suddenly in speed when it is turned off. But we expect this will not change the impact force of the collision, so impact force will be consistent across all sets of collisions.


Hypothesis 2;
Caelium uses less energy to lift objects than those objects would release by falling the distance it lifted them,

Experiment 2;
A Caelium core is attached to a strong magnet and both are attached to a line that can supply power to the core. A drop tunnel is setup with copper coils around the outside. The electric output of the coils are consistently measured for induced current and the current sent to the core is measured and recorded as well. The core and magnet are then dropped down the drop tunnel and raised up via the core's force. Before and after each drop the temperature of the core, magnet and room are measured and recorded.

Expected results for Experiment 2; We expect the Caelium core will require less electricity to lift it than is produced by the drop. However since there is nothing free we also expect small environmental decreases in energy in order to make up the difference. Regardless of the outcome this aspect of Caelium will require further research.


Hypothesis 3;
The strength of Caelium's effect scales with voltage or current.

Experiment 3;
A Caelium core is connected to a variable resistor which is between the core and a large capacity capacitor. The core is moored down but there is a force gauge between the moorings and the connection to the floor. The core is given an array of different burst of electricity. Moving methodically through every possible configuration of burst length, current and voltage. The maximum force is recorded each time and graphed.

Expected Results for Experiment 3: There is little to no data currently but wexpect to see an increase of output with voltage though we currently do not believe it'll scale linearly and we expect diminishing returns at the higher end.


Hypothesis 4;
The strength of Caelium's effect scales non linearly with size.

Experiment 4;
This experiment adapts the experiment of experiment 3 and changes it to use cores of different sizes and shapes and records the results.

Expected Results for Experiment 4: There is no data on this topic currently and accurate assessments cannot be made.


Hypothesis 5;
Caelium's output is effected by altitude.

Experiment 5;
This experiment connects a core to an altimeter and a long spool of wire that provides it power.  The core is released and sent as high as they can go. The wire is connected to the ground using a pulley and the force exerted on the pulley is measured with a force gauge. If they run out of cable more must be acquired for the experiment. The cable is marked at specific intervals as to the length of cable already used, by measuring the angle the cable leaves the pulley this can be used to calculate the height of the core. The cable length, angle and force are recorded frequently. This experiment is conducted several times a day on different days and in different weather conditions and the results are recorded.

Expected Results for Experiment 5: If Caelium is generating a force that repels gravity then it should decrease in strength very slowly as it increases in altitude. However it is likely these changes will be too small for us to measure but it is important to test for other factors that might give Caelium a flight ceiling.

Researcher Doubloon Seven's Proposed experiment:
Hypothesis 6: A Caelium crystal is capable of repelling a separate Caelium crystal of equal or lesser size.

Experiment 6: A stationary crystal of Caelium is anchored at the end of a short track. It is connected to a battery designed to give uniform burst of electricity. On the track will be a small cart with another Caelium crystal, along with a battery designed to output a uniform continuous charge.IT shall be tested if flooding the stationary crystal with electricity will cause repulsion in the mobile crystal. This experiment will be done with differently sized Caelium crystals and with the battery providing charge to the crystal on the cart on or off. This experiment is intended to observe whether or not the magnetic properties that allow Caelium to float will act upon other Caelium crystals in a similar manner.
