I'd vote Mereth, but I don't know if we want to go for MXETE *now*, since it might be useful to grab the Grizzly mech sooner rather than later. It might require a revision to adapt to our tech, or it might require a design. Either way, it's a good way to make it a lot easier to move to a larger size of mechs (thus allowing Salvios to truly actually have vehicles). We'd probably want the Electrogel-using version, otherwise the technology's going to be a bit above us I think.

True, we could also go for the early Grizzly, to gain some mech experience. I'd be fine with either.

For the fortification, I think the crossing is a safe bet - unless whatever Abbera takes from their ally is both game changing and immediately useable, or their design is similarly important and rolled great, I think that we'll at least stalemate, maybe push, with the dramatic equalization of our air power. Thus, fortifying the crossing makes sense to me.

Resource is a no-brainer, although I could have gone for gavrillium instead.

I also agree with going for Mereth, although not sure what to take. While the grizzly would be interesting, I don't think we'd be able to jump from our tech to that - it'd be an impossible roll, before we get some experience with mechs. Besides, I want our main mech to be our own design. Besides the MXETE, maybe we could take their pistol - we have none, I doubt they spent their design on a sidearm, and it might make some difference in close combat. Also, it's *immediately* usable without adaptation, in all likelihood. Thoughts?

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

I'm going to be honest, the mad arms race stuff doesn't really add up well for us. Not a whole lot we can really do with that, and even the stuff we could take isn't going to be advantageous to a degree.

Honestly, I say we get into ICAR and pick up that radio decryption device. THAT would ruffle them up nicely.

More time to think about things really. And to see what we can get. No point in going with all the eggs in one basket right now.

Something of note; if we requisition the Grizzly be sure to specify the old Grizzly. The new one uses cybernetics to reduce cockpit size, whereas the old one doesn't and is as such much more viable for our purposes.

Did this happen in this turn, because if so it's an opsec for me

Nah, that's been a thing for a little bit. Not sure how long (it's been too long), but it's been at least 1 Mad AR Turn since we (Mereth) did that.

So to get this off the discord:

The current debate for the ally is between Mad Arms Race's Mereth and Intercontinental Arms Race's Forenia.

For Mereth, the primary points in it's favor are mechs and computers. We plan to go mech, and it has one. Pretty simple logic. It also has a computer, which could give us a jump towards that kind of technology. We might be able to do something with it? I dunno. Also worth noting are the fact it has a functional sidearm that we could probably adapt without further revision It's a little silly that we don't have one at this point, an rpg, and some interesting chemicals. Downside is that it's stuff is a bit more likely than other options to show through in general designs.

Forenia's primary points are functional land vehicles, particularly the Salamander IFV, because we basically totally lack that. It also has better radio technology, radar, a lot of pretty dang good aircraft technology. Also worth considering is it apparently has a fairly good sidearm (can't find the design though), rocket launchers and missiles, and some decent quality of life stuff. Downside is mainly being pretty mundane.

Okay, putting up a mech design to use later.

Enforcer Light Combat Walker
Standing at a staggering 8 metres high, the Enforcer towers over any land-based threat it likely faces. The prominent part of the design is the mech's massive, myomeric legs, built around a caelium steel skeleton and plated in 60mm of steel armour, enabling the mech to withstand all blows, barring artillery, to the legs. Additionally, the myomer in the legs give the mech a staggeringly hard kick, enough to potentially crush an abberan vehicle outright, giving it surprising utility in close quarters.

Mounted on top of the legs is an armoured box where the gunner, pilot and commander direct the mech and it's firepower, armoured similarly to the legs with 60mm of armour on all sides. Armed with a 40mm LFG (Side mounted & operated by the gunner), a pair of G3-12s (Chin mounted & operated by the driver) and an LGG-12 (Pintle mounted, and operated by the commander). Furthermore the vehicle's powerplant is also protected in the box, with the gavengine providing the power to the mech and enabling it to hit a speed of roughly 60 Km/h. Finally, as the Enforcer's 'head' is mounted on a protected ring mount to the legs, the 'head is capable of a full 360 rotation, enabling the mech to easily pull of hit and run attacks.
