Not only was that not my complaint, I also don't like the method given for it to float things because it's not as adaptable as what we asked for with Gravite.

Okay, as an Abberan, I can say we meant it as general purpose antigravity, though hovercraft were something we thought of. Also, I can say for sure that Madman's idea wouldn't work. If you attached a brick to Caelium, it would either hover or sit still depending on the weight of the brick.

But our ideas aren't impossible, we just say we melt it or use strong magnetic field or set it on fire or whatever, it's all in the rolls and the GM interpretation anyway.

Oh.  Okay, so just to be clear, you're not annoy with the material having been use previously or available to the other side, you're just annoyed we had a setback and hafta work for our goals rather'n be handed them by the GM?  I'm just trying to be clear here, because that's what I get from what I'm reading, and I want to give you the benefit of doubt

I mean, that's the same description I have, and I think it's pretty unreasonable. Mostly because there is a sane way to interpret what we have ("its hovering corresponds to a specific amount of gravitational potential energy") and an idiotic one ("it somehow has a specific height above whatever's beneath it that it sets itself to magically").

I am annoyed that we've been handed something the enemy team had the right to keep under wraps for at least three more turns, I'm annoyed that while they received a material that was exactly what they wanted, we were given a material that was identical to what THEY wanted without being what we wanted, and I am annoyed that we were handed such a crappy sentence without warning.

I expect to need to "work" insomuch as you "work" in an Arms Race for things, but NOT for things that we are guaranteed by the rules to receive without bothering with a die roll. Furthermore, I expect decent warning from the GM before they turn everything over on our heads.

Furthermore, I see no reason to consider it a simple setback unless the enemy team is going to receive without warning the same setback with the same consequences. If they don't, the GM has intentionally or not rigged the game before combat actually even starts.

How is it a setback when the GM has promised that we can do exactly the same things with it (in fact, anything gravity-related) at exactly the same odds of success?

I just don't like it because it destroys creativity.

I say just let us refund our design. Both sides get what they want, and we don't get screwed by getting an enemy design instead of what we actually tried for.

So, as someone on the Salvios side, I can say, without spoilers, we got pretty much exactly what we asked for.
And the writer of the design and I'm pretty sure most of the voters disagree with you.

We asked for a resource to manipulate gravity, we got a resource to manipulate gravity. If the writer of the design and most of the voters can't read, that doesn't change the reality.

Anyway, "destroys creativity", what creativity? Both sides asked for the same obvious, basic, boring thing within the first two turns anyway, regardless of everything that happened afterward.

We did not ask for a "resource to manipulate gravity". We asked for something a lot more specific than that, and what we got was completely different.
If you actually read the design, you would know that.

Spin, you probably ought to cool it a bit.

The mechanisms of manipulation AND the form of manipulation we started with are different, furthermore it sounds like (Based on the GM's comments) it will be extremely messy AND a way of learning information from the other team if we end up using the same material to do similar things. I would rather not deal with that or any of the other problems that have been brought up over and over again.


Hopefully MoP will fix things soon so we can move on with our lives and our AR game.
