Author Topic: Why are artifacts lost? Why are mediocre books legendary?  (Read 519 times)

These two questions popped up while I was digging through Legends mode on the Legends Viewer for a story I want to write.

In question is a book whose prose is "not awful, but not very good either." It talks about a marriage between a bard and a farmer, hardly legendary historical figures, yet it's an artifact. Why is that? Why are mediocre books legendary? The author was only a novice writer.

Also, the book was eventually lost in Doomedmaligned, the Dark Pits it was created in. Yet there is no reason said for that, no correlated theft, rampage or battle either. Is there an explanation for that?

I appreciate your attention, thanks!

- All original books are artifacts, currently, i.e copies are not.
- It's in a dark pit. Goblin ethics has murder as a personal matter... Otherwise an owner could have been killed by an animal.
