Uncharacteristically, Gostell speaks up first: "Since your majesty expanded my budget, I've been constantly searching Abystok for good soldiers to recruit. I've found a bunch, but I've also found dwarves who would be willing and well-suited to serve Abystok in a less overt capacity. We should start sending agents to find information, my liege, information about which our neighbours would prefer to keep us in the dark. For now I could easily fund such a program from the budget you've already given me, so it won't even cost Abystok any more at first."

Nedru adds, "Your highness, after Gostell came to me with this suggestion, I've already begun making inquiries with my business interests to find leads. Needless to say, I think it's a good idea."

I'm sure either of us would be happy to take on the responsibility, but it would likely interfere with the duties we already have, so does your highness have anyone in mind?"

A) No, I'll wait until it becomes necessary, if it becomes necessary.
B) Appoint any dwarf already identified, including any named dwarf as well as your chief mining thegn, the high priest, court astrologer, or indeed anyone who has been mentioned in the narrative. Write in your choice.

Few weeks later, you receive another report about the mines. After routing around the waterlogged section, miners penetrated into an ancient layer of iron-rich sediments; these deposits are usually huge, though not all of it is concentrated enough to be worth refining. The thegns praise your wisdom in continuing the project in the face of previous setbacks, though you're not sure they even asked you at the time.

First, of course, I suppose I should ask if you even want to begin exploiting this new find yet; you did already set aside the copper, and, as you've already seen, seafloor mining is much less of a sure thing.
