I mean, there are clear advantages and disadvantages to both, but this is going to be the early stretch where we need to define a strategy for our future, and it seems more prudent do do that with a plan rather than an alloy of bits. The point is basically going to become moot in a little while, but we should cement ourselves first. By the way, explanation for my plan for the future so that some people might vote for my alliterationfest.

Screw it, I'll support the PPP. Missiles can wait until next jump. (I also do not want to contribute to the aforementioned proposal explosion by creating my own.)

Proposal: Heating The Forge.

I Like the Power system in PPP, but I don't like the lack of a mining system in the proposal. For the last design I could go either way, With Either the Laceration (which can be used as a flak cannon to kill small craft and missiles due to the fact it a giant Shaped shrapnel bomb) or the Kestrel, as both Will provide our ships protection from Missle fire from the enemy ship. Also, Plan PPP has no Dice allocation.

I thought it was a flat 3 dice per project? Also, I wanted to look into a mining system involving lasers based off of the Kestrel. I'd consider a proper life support system to be a higher priority than mining, though, so I wanted to start on proper life support next turn. Otherwise, we could use that revision to retool the current life support to be better at its job. If you're dead set on mining systems, then why not revise the mining ships?

So, a thought. Since we have automatic progression of projects each turn, we should start our biggest and most ambitious projects this turn, and do our revisions/small projects at the turn right before we start.

Also, I think we ought to go for a tank build. This is essentially designed to become a war of attrition, so building something like a ship wide automated repair system sends like a good start. Spending less on repairs each turn will quickly add up to a passive resource advantage, plus we won't have to try and cram this in late game when everything is falling apart.

Edit: Yeah, you're right. In that case, frostgiant, could you replace the Kestrel in Heating the Holoforge with the Saker? I'd actually support that. Next turn could be used to get the Kestrel, that fancy plasma engine I talked about, and maybe a better life support system.

Sounds good, I'll replace the kestral.

EDIT:We need to be very careful with advanced plastics, or do our absolute best to cut them out of our designs entirely, due to the fact that we can't make more and we need to recycle any that we use to recoup them into the resource pool. A Salvage Ship-based off the miners or A ship module for that purpose Should be something that we look at next turn.

Automatic progress is slow. For a small project, it's perfectly fine to just let it finish automatically. For a large project? If you want it done in any reasonable length of time we will want to throw dice at it.

Automatic Progress is determined by the Progress role at project creation. If we roll a 1, it'll progress at 1/turn. With a roll of 2 or 3, it'll progress 2/turn. Four or Five, 3/turn. A 6 gives us 4 free progress per turn on that project.

This being said, the dice is normalized, so we're probably only getting 2 or 3 progress a turn, so the projects started now will likely only get 6-9 free progress.

Rereading the Laceration... yeah, it actually seems fine. I was under the impression that it was like a shotgun instead of a claymore mine on a missile. Though I'm still not too sure as to its use in point defense, it seems like a good weapon.

I personally prefer the Laceration, I Just put together the holoforge plan for people who would prefer the energy weapons but agreed with the other two points.
