Food is important, but the mountains are on the coast. Not as plentiful, but we will eat. However, a land without coal is a delayed death sentence. We will need coal to survive.

So we should *probably* go for the Prince Charles mountains. Now is not the time to try inventing a geothermal heating system when we could just attempt to find some coal instead. Also, we can't send divers. They'd be dead before they reached the gash in the hull. We don't have, apparently, any Arctic survival suits, and even if we did you aren't really meant to go underwater in those. You can't survive long in this ocean. If we can't pump out those rooms, they're probably lost to us until summer, when the chance of instant death is less.

We might also, of course, be able to simply beach the ship, depending on how things look when we reach the shore. There's no way this ship will make another long journey any time soon, after all. Beaching it and then scrapping it (making sure that the important parts are intact, if we can actually remove those bits without breaking them) is probably the best course of action.

If we scrap it, we'll be out of shelter in the middle of Antarctic winter, and while I'm all for coal, you can't grow crops on a sub-zero mountain. As said by Sensei, time is food.

Scrap it and build shelter(s) out of it, obviously. I didn't plan to just disassemble the entire ship into its component pieces and then cackle gleefully about our piles of steel plating while freezing to death in the Antarctic wind.

At this rate democracy is in the lead, but the embark site is tied. Some more votes are needed to plot a final course with confidence, and soon lest the day is wasted.

Edit: Also Doubloon-Seven had something about going to the peninsula mixed in all that diving nonsense (it doesn't make it easier to read if you bold almost everything!). Therefore the vote currently stands that the ship will chart course for the peninsula soon.
