Just use javelins and arrange my line into a longer one.. I've got a lot more numbers than they do, and will get around the flanks pretty easily.  There also aren't enough of them for a square or a good formation strong all around, so line up, pelt them, melee, and wrap around them.  Keep a reserve of about a third of the troops to make sure the line keeps tight.  Join in personally if there seems to be some enemy hero or something that needs to be dueled, or if things start going bad.

40 Grunts armed with 100 heavy flint spears, 300 Javelins, 100 Bludgeons, 100 Targe shields
100 Camp Followers
175 Pieces of Silver

3,125 Wheat ration days

You extend your line to envelop theirs.

Power roll: 2d6>=4f1!6  = (3 3, 0 successes) = 0
You try to bellow some inspiring war cry, but you are out of breath from your run and it comes out as, just attack them already! Your men get the general idea of the plan to just swarm the enemy.

Attacking throw at point blank range:
120d6>=4 = 83 successes
Defense:
120d6>=4  60 defenses

A swarm of javelins clatter of shields, helmets, but many puncture armor at the legs, a few lucky throws at close range land in faces. About 10 guardsmen are wounded or heavily disoriented from the javelin attack.

What your senses failed to notice earlier was that a mailed knight is leading the small contingent. He is wearing a hauberk and wielding a longsword. He rallies whoever he can and meets your charge.

8d6>=4f1!6  = (5 5 6 6 1 5 6 5 3 5 2, 9 successes) = 9

The knight alone cuts down 4 of your orcs in a fluidic sweep as he seems to dance into your ranks.

56 of your orcs attack the remaining guardsmen. The soldiers of gondor fight back desperately, but their lines are broken by the javelin attack and they are reduced to brawling with your orcs.

Orcs:
112d6>=4f1!6 = 68 successes

Gondor:
40d6>=4f1!6  = 21 successes

10 of your orcs are skewered by spears even as the rest swarmed the humans. The soldiers are beaten down.

Coup D'oeil: 2d6>=4f1!6  = (6 4 3, 3 successes) = 3

You cautiously circle the isolated knight, you note that he is a confident and superior fighter. His stance is completely relaxed even as he faces certain death and overwhelming odds. You approach but hold back to prevent your head being loped off prematurely.

14/18 Grunts with Clubs (crude 2-handed) (1 wounded)

2 Grunts with Ash Hunting bows and 10 Hunting arrows between them.

43 Grunts unarmed
100 Camp Followers
100 silver pieces

3,750 ration days of meat.

7 Dwarf Prisoners
7 Brigantines
Assorted mining tools for 7 dwarves

power roll: 1d6>=4f1!6  = (4, 1 success) = 1

The dwarves take swings at your orcs even as the orcs dogpile them.

5 of your orcs take hits, with pickheads being buried into shoulders, skulls and necks even as the climb atop the dwarves.

You pin down and secure the dwarves as prisoners. 2 of your wounded expire. 3 require medical attention.

You roll enterprise to search through the dwarves' belongings:

3d6>=4f1!6  = (1 1 1, -3 successes) = -3

Your orcs find a strongbox among the dwarves' cargo and eagerly smash it open. It explodes spectacularly, taking most of the other cargo with it. Barrels of strong dwarvern stout in the wagons catch fire and ignite more of the dwarves' possessions. 2 of your orcs are wounded in the explosion.

You do however have seven dwarves wearing what seems to be brigantines. You reckon that the dwarves will at least fetch a decent price as slaves at the nearest orc stronghold.

Your two wounded orcs require bandages, and possibly "orc draught", a simple brew made from marrow that replenishes blood loss and speeds up healing. Kind of like chicken soup.

You head back towards your camp with the dwarves in tow. Your orcs prepare their grain rations. A few are asking for permission to... add more babies to the tribe. It might mean more mouths to feed, but the young also make for decent scouts and skirmishers.

Why do we have 100 silver?

Treat the wounded.
We march for the nearest stronghold to sell them. Their weapons, armor, and gear go into our storage.

You started with 200 silver and only spent 100.

Your orcs slaughter one of the dwarves and turn his bones into paste for medicine. Then they eat the rest of him. One of your tougher orcs has the honor of devouring his still-beating heart, a process that transforms him into an Uruk-hai.

It is too dark to march, not without considerable risk to the non-combatants anyway. Your orcs settle in for the night, and the sounds of a hard breeding after a bloody fight echo through the valley like a symphony. More rations than usual are also devoured, presumably to make more orcs.

In the morning you will find some 50 new squalling snaga, ready to march and hold a weapon for the tribe.

The dwarves accept their fate in stoic silence. But you may have caught one of them sobbing a little.

Get prices for Bucklers and Light Armor.
Single set of Medium armor and war club.

You make the march back to base camp without incident.
Your remaining 6 dwarves are taken to the slaughterhouse.

Enterprise roll: 3d6>=4f1!6  = (3 6 4 3, 2 successes) = 2

You fetch a decent price for the dwarves, 10 silver each for 60 more silver. Because they're a juicy delicacy.

You can acquire untreated longbows for about 100 60 silver. A military longbow with treated wood would easily cost 300 silver. A good bodkin arrow is easily half a silver each, but hunting arrows can be acquired for 10 per silver.

You find an apprentice armorer willing to supply you bucklers for 2 silver each. For 3 silver he is willing to sell you targe shields. He'll do cavalry shields for 5 silver and entire scutums for 10. His shields all come with an iron boss.

You also get a quote for chainmail for only 60 silver. It's usually 100 to 300 silver from master armorers. Only only only. A common 2-handed warhammer can also be yours for about the same price, 60 silver.

625 Rations

You ask around for something to do You cause some trouble while waiting for the other chieftians to get back from raiding. You're the greenest and the meanest in town, and will crump anyone who says otherwise.

A couple of uruks think they're meaner than you. You attack them with all the meanest you can muster.

Rolling power: 4d6>=4 f1 !6  = (6 3 4 6 5 6 3, 6 successes) = 6

Uruk's roll:
3d6>=4 f1 !6  = (6 2 6 2 5, 4 successes) = 4
3d6>=4 f1 !6  = (6 1 2 5, 1 success) = 1

You squash the uruks, breaking their skulls with your terrible meanity. Then you harvest their bones and make a club out of them for yourself. You also wear their ribs as armor. The rest of their flesh is thrown into the communal stew and shared with the tribe.

Assuming I actually have them, seven of them get the picks.

chainmail for only 60 silver. A common 2-handed warhammer for 60 silver.
Uruk's club is passed along to another orc, and the Uruk's gets the chain and hammer.

I order the Orcs to make more clubs.

Break camp and march for the objective. Stop short of it to make camp in a hidden position.
