So is the Update after the big wait still going to be called DF2014?
Probably DF2020.

So is the Update after the big wait still going to be called DF2014?

Or will they go with something else?

If something else, my vote is "DFM2"

For one, DF2014 is an informal name, and considering that it's:
a) going to come anywhere between 4 and 6 (realistically) years after DF2014
b) is going to feature significant overhauls and changes

I think it's fair to say it will NOT be DF2014 anymore.
My guess is that it'll be DF201x (where x is the year it releases in) much like DF2014, but DFM2 sounds nice too.

But really, it's most likely either that, or whatever actual version number it's going to bump into at that point.

It's not going to be released in 2019. Either 2020 or 2021.

i'll just call it... 0.48 or whatever

minor chance it'll be 0.50, since 0.40 was also a 6-version jump, wouldn't that be wild

Magic takes up quite a bit of the dev page, so possibly 0.50.

it's be 1.02 at that point

depends on how much magic gets in, right? the myths are pretty major too

Magic will be dependent on the myths. So at least half of magic will get in in the first pass.

that assumes that at least half of myths get in; a pretty big chunk of world activities have been post-0.40.01, and inclusion of more is not just ongoing but the focus of the next release.

Sure, but myths are lumped together with magic on the dev page. So it's logical that magic will be in on the first pass.

They will only become affordable after 50 years, if not more.

Soooo... right now we have just a small wait of months for the big villains update? And then the 1-2+ years of the myth/magic update right?

Been through several waits before (since 07ish?) so not impatient or anything but just wondering. Heck, he could spend 5 to 10 years on the next update if it speeds up development for all I care.

World activation was the greatest update ever. If he needs that sort of timeframe, or more, to do something similar or better, just do it! For the future of Dwarf Fortress!
