A recent steam update now allows you to look at your entire purchase history. (This tool totals it up for you; you can also use a spreadsheet and your account details tab.) Apparently, I've spent $4,490, or about $450 per year.

EDIT: I took another look at the spreadsheet, and I didn't account for money I made selling TF2 items. I figured it'd be a like $10 or something... turns out I made more than $600. So my total cash-money down was actually $3,808.64, or $380/year.

To clarify, I don't have a gaming rig and as such rarely buy high-powered or AAA games. Rimworld was probably one of the most expensive things I've bought on Steam... that total feels like a lot!

"TotalSpend" says $551.25, but tallying it up from the full transaction list I get $534.18 (taking care not to consider wallet spending, only what is actually charged).

Adding up wallet credits (selling trading cards etc) I get $13.44 total, but that leaves $3.63 unaccounted for in that $551.25 number. Maybe an arithmetic error, but regardless it looks like that number TotalSpend definitely doesn't exclude market credits.

Adding up regret purchases (stuff I've never played etc) I get $131.70, or 24% of TotalSpend.

$60 all time total (there are 2 retail games (~$30 total) not included in that number). All but $25 was gift cards from a survey site. Most of my games were free from one place or another, including bundle game giveaways.

I only got Steam this January. Although I did activate one retail game in 2010, the experience was so horrid (I had to take my computer to friends house to use their internet) that I just pirated all future Steam games I wanted (yes, you can run uTorrent off a flashdrive on a public library computer, why do you ask?).

Until very recently "online activation required" or "requires Steam" meant I would *never* buy your game, I simply couldn't.

$4,166 since L4D came out in 2008. That's games and cash adds to my Steam wallet for games like Waframe and Path of Exile. I've also done a lot of gifting on Steam in the last few years.

For some reason I'm not getting an itemized list of purchases by year like others are.

Man those $60 "Play it for 20 hours and never touch it again" purchases really add up.

I didn't get a list by year, I just viewed the full list through steam and added them up by year manually (out of my own curiosity, and as part of checking whether that number is accurate).

$18,644.43. First recorded purchase was sending a friend Garry's Mod in 2007. I've had my account for 12 years, though, so it comes out to $1553/year, or about $130 per month. I literally haven't bought a physical PC game since, well, Half-Life 2, which was what led me to install Steam in the first place.

The more horrifying number would be how much I've spent on games I haven't even booted up. Not sure I want to see *that*.

422-ish USD, after purging card sales from the list, between 2011 and now. That's not counting however much came from bundles or somethin', though, I don't think. Probably wouldn't be more than another hundred, hundred fifty bucks, if I had to ballpark.

For this, I have 237 games in my steam library, coming out to a bit under two bucks per game. Could be worse.

Steam stung a friend of mine, way back when, on a shop bought 'boxed' game that came on DVD-ROM and required extensive Steam download/installation/registration (stupid system) then wouldn't run for ?REASONS? and neither could he pass the game onto someone else.

Though I've heard it's changed, and also branched into supporting Indy gamemakers, I've retained my flat refusal to have any interest in going for Steam-only/Steam-necessary games. My loss, I'm sure. But nobody else's gain either.
