Bloodsmoke plus divine abduction prosthetic basically turns you into ninja john wick for as long as your emblems hold out, you can mulch through huge groups of even powerful enemies

This was my experience with Genichiro as well. It's not that his moves were hard to figure out, it's just that you had to repeatedly execute correctly.

This is how I went from being frustrated to going "Wut?"

Haven't found many bosses like that yet though. Generally you assume most bosses will "poise" through your attack to penalize greed or poor judgment (as was Dark Souls' way), but in Sekiro this deliberately seems to not be the case with some.

I think the game itself outright states that you can deflect arrows but not bullets, except with the shield prosthetic, or something similar, not sure, I still cba to use that thing against ranged folks, prefer dodging my way into stab range.

As for genichiro, pretty much every of his arrow attacks can be interrupted with a shuriken if you can read it in time, hell, I think almost everything but his one long-ass attack chain has several punishable spots that offer you free damage and a stop to the chain, and even the super long chain rewards you with a hit or two at the end if you didn't get poised during it.

You can totally block and deflect bullets. Only exception I've seen is the snekeyes long range shots. Most of their shots you can still parry with no vitality loss, it's just the one they switch to when you're far away (and they can snipe you from across the map with it.)

The skill for midair deflection actually recommends that you use it to parry bullets in midair, because projectiles deal extra damage to midair targets.

I spent so much time on Shirafuji that I had her number when it came to fighting Shirahagi, beat her pretty handily in a straight up fight.

See, what I did was use the Puppeteer on both her buddies in elevated positions, then laughed maniacally as they stunlocked her with their fuckoff-huge cannons.

Well the second time around with the Ape went a lot better. You were right. That overhand slash is kinda mandatory to deflect if you want to get that fight over with.
