Alright. I hate to do this
Now while we're voting and all... But I wasn't satisfied with my 'Dimensional Bleedover Rituals' proposal. So I basically rewrote it to remove the taint of being powered by 39 hours of sleep deprivation. It maintains the same spirit as predecessor, but is, in my opinion, better. That is for you lot whom are following me to decide however.
Here it is:
Dimensional Bleedover Rituals v2Whenever you were part of a crowd united in purpose; at a live performance of your favorite musician; during the finals of a sports league; in a movie theater debuting the eagerly awaited sequel to a beloved movie; or even in the presence of the crazy pseudo cults that always congregate around Coffee Machines on the Pacemaster... Have you ever felt an energy in the air? A feeling that something far greater than yourself was present? Long have we ascribed it to 'mob mentality', a manifestation of our communal instincts and nature. Or latent radiation.
The texts we have purchased from the Watchers, which seem to have been translated roughly into 'Dimensional Bleedover, For Dummies', offers a different explanation from what we've properly translated from it so far: that this feeling isn't so simple; that what we're feeling is the turbulence and aftereffects of what is called 'Dimensional Bleedover'. The event itself seems to be quite literally named, as it is an event where the barriers between dimensions is blended a little, and effects, energy and sometimes even material is transferred between 2 or more dimensions; and that this event can be induced through a series of specific movements specifically tailored to wear down these boundaries. It really does appear that Humanity has been (mostly) unintentionally doing this for a very large chunk of its existence by complete accident, trading precision for 'resonance effects' or something...
Another thing we've noted from what we've translated so far is that these events are easier to induce if one is capable of enacting them from both sides of the dimensions one wishes to blend... And conveniently right after this is an addendum from the Watchers that seems to contain proofs that while Humans are optimized to work in 3 dimensions of 'Normal Space', we do in fact exist primarily in what our best guess is 5... We think, anyway. There's always the chance that we've greatly mistranslated it and it's actually an ad for a body health pill or something, Watcher-speak is ridiculously resilient to translation.... If this is true though, breaking into this new field of physics breaking wouldn't be the incredibly painstakingly long and hard process we initially projected it to be!... It would also explain how mimes work. We think. Their ways are mysterious and obscure even with this revelation...
Still; there is a fervor throughout R&D, at seeing the timetable for tearing reality in new and exciting ways (or for personally seeing and studying physics interactions for the not-good-boring ones...); even if it does seem that we will be limited towards *only* 5 Dimensional Fuckery for the near future. Because even with only 5, the possibilities swirl throughout the minds of the scientists! There's always the simple options of exploiting Higher Dimensional physics and of folding Normal Space into said Higher Dimensions (well, simple in thought at least; actual viability assessments cannot be made just yet). We could form containment apparatuses where none exist within Normal Space! Shunting objects into and out of Higher Dimensional Space is also a possibility we have dreamed of! Enhanced Starship drives that take shortcuts by exploiting traveling through Higher Dimensional Space! Ships that exist in more than the 3 dimensions of Normal Space! Synchronized Spaceship Dancing for fun and profit! Once we figure out how to build proper 5D tools so that we don't have to rely on placing our small population in awkward and dangerous places the possibilities would be endless!
