Ooh, right, this is Shatterfate.

I've only seen awesomeness with rolls to seduce, so that sounds good.

Five days after the lawgiver showed up and scouted our top levels.  I feel that we should be suspicious of this.

That aside, the caravan arrived and began working out details of a trade agreement for the coming year.

After that was done, 'Josephus' threw a few mechanisms, boulders, and a chain or two at them, taking nearly all of the food they were carrying - and they were carrying naught else!

It is now Malachite, and with that, I return to oversee work on the new walls.

Disregard that entire post.  DF crashed and the most recent save is toasted, forced a rollback.

Edit 2:  Disregard above, the aforementioned things occurred almost exactly as they had the first time around.  I'm not sure if the export agreement is identical, but I forgot to grab a screencap of it, so bah.

Gonna pick up the magma minecart project with nickel or leave it be?

I have no idea how to use minecarts, for the most part, so I'll leave that for someone else.

It's fine, I figured out powerless/pumpless magmacart usage in like my first month of playing. Minecarts can be fiendishly complicated, but this shouldn't be too hard.

Sorry for the huge delay.  Sudden burst of being... busy.  Still working on it, back to Hematite and will at least finish the season today.

The rest of summer passed uneventfully.  Progress on the walls continues slowly, due to a lack of nickel blocks.

The first day of Autumn, however, brought this:

What are you smoking, mate?  You know we can't do jack all with stone.

Alright, let's get three more smelters set up.  We're not going through this bloody ore fast enough!  I don't even feel the heat anymore, mate.  Hell, I'm not even sweating anymore.

I still don't know what shit you're smoking, mate, but go ahead.  Have at it.

Wait, what's that they're yelling?

What the hell?  Arright, that takes it.  Slipped in a puddle o' sick, that's what we're gonna say.  Moron.  Someone shove this idiot's remains in- what?

Rubies!  Blimey, with that and all the native gold an' native pla'inum we've been diggin' up, we're the richest bastards around.  But we won't be for long if you sods don't get that bloody wall built!  We got more blocks, now scurry off!

Mate, I don't know how the fuck you did that, but you bloody well did.  What about that goddess?  The cunt tell you anything, mate?

About bloody time.  Alright, you lot, get our crap to the depot!  And someone make some more bloody pots!  And we're out o' bricks, you sods, why are you not making th- eh?

Mate.  What.  Well, it is about bloody time our merits are recognised!  You lot wouldn't know a nice glass pot from y'r own arses!

A garnierite artifact....I approve! Garnierite is too precious to smelt, normally, but this fort can be an exception. A quern is also perfectly symmetrical, so that's nice.

Papermaker fell from a hatch someone opened?

I usually go for someone without item preferences, but a vampire would be traditional too.

For some reason, the vampyre was chosen as baron.  No idea what this lot was smoking when that was decided, but whatever.

As for the caravan:

Well, alright then mate.

A missive?  Why would anyone be sending us anything like that?

You cheeky bastards.

'Basic stonework can't be that hard, can it?  Smoothing stone, you're just breaking little bits off.  Like breaking a boulder.'  Amanita brings her pick down on a rock, shattering it and strewing chips of stone across the floor of the exploratory tunnel.  'Like making a tunnel through the stone.'  With a few well-placed strikes, a section of rock collapses, expanding the tunnel.  'It can't be that different; it is merely a difference of scale.'  Holding the pick's handle next to the head, Amanita examines the boulder that was left behind.  Taking careful aim, she gently taps an edge to chip away a small section...

... and the boulder crumbles to dust.

"Bloody-  Screw you too, Atir!"

As a few more curses ring through the empty tunnels, midnight arrives.

Winter has arrived on the calendar.

OOC:  Sorry for the delay.  If all goes smoothly, I should have winter done tomorrow or the next day.

The bottom level of the walls are more than halfway complete, with the entire outer perimeter being fully constructed:

Musical instruments and meals? Well, that's going to be one profitable trade.

Which way does the bottom bridge raise?

Aye, whoever is next is going to have a very easy time of trading with the autumn caravan if they remember to make plenty of meals.  We're out of pots somehow; with the forges focused on making blocks and the kiln making bricks and pearlash, we're left with a slow trickle of green glass pots.  So, to the next overseer:  Remember to make more bloody pots.

As for the bridge, it raises to the north.  It hasn't been hooked up to anything yet; I intend to get to that tomorrow(meaning "after I bloody sleep why have I been up for so long).
