Roger still looks a dumbfounded, taking a long sip of his coffee before saying "Huh... so, was he a customer? How'd you run into him?"

"Oh yeah, actually. He paid with these." You produce the pouch of coins, and set one on the table.

Roger reaches to pick it up, but yanks his hand back when a jolt of orange sparks zaps his finger. He grimaces and breathes as if suppressing a cry, clenching his fists in evident pain before managing to wheeze out "...the fuck..."
