"Darn. How bad?"

"Throwin' up."

"...well then. Tell him I hope he gets well soon."

"Mmhm."

"So, uh... I'm looking for a new spare tire. Can you help me out?"

"Mmmm. You still driving that '78?"

(Whoops, I goofed. Meant to type 78. Iggy wouldn't get that wrong.)

Okay say this instead. "Yeah, I'm still driving it."

Okay say this instead. "Yeah, I'm still driving it."

Without looking up, Iggy says, simply, "Fifty dollars."

Pay the man the money and I guess we wait around until he's finished.

You entertain the thought for a moment of trying to pay him with the coins Amat gave you, but you simply offer your debit card. Iggy swipes it and shuffles over into the garage, returning a few seconds later with an appropriate wheel under his arm.

"Thanks," you say, accepting the wheel with both hands. Iggy says nothing, and it's hard to see his expression behind the shades he always wears. He resumes his perch on the stool behind the counter and picks up the newspaper again. "Have a nice day. And tell Steve I hope he gets well soon."

"Mmmm."

Consider what these coins are actually good for. They would probably be worth something to historians if they, uh, were part of this world's history. They're naturally not a legal currency. That pretty much leaves melting them down for the metal, right?

Any precious metals dealer would accept them in coin form without worrying too much about the source, but we should keep the coins as a keepsake anyway, especially since we might end up having to refuel in another world some time.

It seems statistically unlikely that if we end up in another world, these coins would be worth anything there, either.

Statistically unlikely, but narratively likely. :P

Following this train of thought, you remember there being a pawn shop downtown. Not sure about a gold guy or other metal dealer, but you haven't been looking for one either.

Oh! Probably a good time to look at that notification on your phone:

Let's check how many available rides there are before we do anything. Don't want to miss out on money. Let's also check how much of a profit we've been making as well.

I suppose this is expedient.
