Pull over and pick it up.

You pull over to the side of the road and answer your phone. "Hello?"

"Aah! Steersman! It worked!"

"Amat? How..."

"Ah yes, indeed! I wondered if I might contact you again, and so the Nimar-atöl guided me in operation of this symbolic mechanism. Most wondrous, that they would have such a thing simply laying about for guests at this lodging!"

Um, hi.

"Um, hi," you say, taking a look at the app. There doesn't seem to be a ping for Amat, so you guess he's just calling.

"Yes, so good that I have found a way to contact you, steersman! I shall need your guidance in this realm during my stay, and mayhaps again your conveyance. In fact, I have a query right now!"

"Oh?"

"It seems I must exchange my coinage for the local currency. Evidently times are fraught enough that even a simple innkeep fears to keep real gold on her person. Know you where best I might exchange for these paper notes?"

...You know, I've never really thought about what the best way to exchange gold for money would be. Those "cash4gold" or whatever places with the TV ads always seemed like a scam. Maybe he should just go to a bank and ask about it?

"We have contrivances called 'banks' for that sort of thing. It may be difficult to find a buyer for your coinage, since gold coins have been so rare here for so long, but I'll help you through the process as much as you need."

(This took a surprising amount of research)

"We have contrivances called 'banks' for that sort of thing. It may be difficult to find a buyer for your coinage, since gold coins have been so rare here for so long, but I'll help you through the process as much as you need."

"We have contrivances called 'banks' for that sort of thing." Although, you're not sure if a credit union would exchange gold for money. Do most banks even have gold anymore? Hmm.

"Ah, yes, I know of banks. That is where one stores gold, and shrewd settled peoples lend it out to somehow increase their own supply. Why, I once even pillaged the bank of the dark fortress of Gloomspire."

"...Um, well, you probably shouldn't do any pillaging around here."

"Fear not, I have no enmity for this place."

"Anyways... It may be hard to find a buyer for your coinage, since gold coins have been so rare here for so long, but I'll help you through the process as much as you need. Maybe look for a jeweler."

"Yes, I knew I could rely on you, steersman! We shall speak again shortly, I must investigate." With that, the phone hangs up.

Looks like you've passed the end of the morning rush. Pings are down and there's more other drivers about now. Maybe this is a chance to do one of the other things you wanted today, until things pick up again in the afternoon.
