A suggestion game.

All laws, currencies, and governments are a game. They have no built in meaning other than what we give them.

If a player doesn't post for too long, drop them and move on.

Starting as a blank-slate freeform R.T.D. to generate themes for the player incarnations, then surprising them with an actual setting and plot when they all wake up from a dream a few turns later probably won't go down well. You attracted players for the freeform, not a setting...

If your players don't show up when you're ready to start(days later). PM them.

/
Rules that say that the players can vote to replace the GM are pretty good to save the game in an orderly fashion.

If there are dice rolls, the players will want to see them.

Tell your GM you plan to quit asap.

If there are dice rolls, the players will want to see them.
What the players want and what they get need not be correlated, provided that the end result is fun.

/
Treating the entire waitlist as a single gestalt player with metaabilities that are perfectly capable of revealing the dice rolls if they roll half-decently won't stop them from complaining about invisible dice rolls in an R.T.D., at least not if you are running a state of ignorance where they may not realise that that is an option. However, when they successfully get a player added from the waitlist, incarnating that player as a cosmic horror is fun.

Don't set your R.T.D. in an established setting that you don't know much about, but don't let the setting overrule the G.M. either.

Player Inactivity/Recruitment

If your players don't show up when you're ready to start(days later). PM them.

Tell your GM you plan to quit asap.

Don't be too upset if many players who sign up don't show up. The more discrete the players, the less chance anyone will sign up.

Be able and ready to receive and read PMs(private messages) when joining games.

Check out Delinquent Players Help. As an option.

Post your game in the Game List.

Don't set your R.T.D. in an established setting that you don't know much about, but don't let the setting overrule the G.M. either.

Update consistently. Players tend to lose interest in things that aren't reliable. Likewise, don't let absent players stop you from updating, but try to keep it fun. Also consider people's timetables. Most people have daily and weekly schedules. So probably aim for updates according to that. Like fortnightly updates, or weekdaily, or daily, or on both weekends...

Don't provide extremely specific examples if you want to hide your shame.

Be able and ready to receive and read PMs(private messages) when joining games.
When starting games, have a backup plane for when some players inevitably don't.

For myself, I expect that i have gone entire years with no P.M.s. For some people it just isn't a thing that they do... And you should never assume competence on the part of the client...
