v1.6 ReleasedMajor changes:*
Full support for Revised v2.2.0!* Weapon velocity and size limits rebalance!
(1) Minimun size and two-handed limits have been calculated, somewhat realistically, for all melee weapons. Semi-handers no longer exist as a concept: hooked axe, long spear and flail are now two-handed, and war hammer is one-handed. My mining drills have been removed as redundant, as picks have low size requirements now.
(2) All new minsizes have further been reduced by a factor of x0.64, which is the maximum negative size difference of an individual humanoid in DF. This is to account for the
Bug 5812. I figured if a size 38400 dwarf can wield a weapon intended for a (normal) size 60000 dwarf regardless, then a raccoon man (size 38500) should be allowed it too.
(3) Velocity for all one-handed edged attacks has been reduced by a factor of x1.5, while two-handed blunt attacks recieved x1.5 multiplier, nerfing one-handed weapons as a whole. Adept weapon skill and higher can make up for this.
(4) All blunt attacks that weren't previously considered 'heavy' now are.
(5) A tiny velocity bonus that all two-handed weapons used to have no longer applies. Only the certain "good leverage" weapons retained it.
(6) Metal cost for many weapons has been readjusted to account for these changes.
(7) Some minor adjustments to available weapons for dwarves, kobolds and subterranean tribes in my presets to account for minsize changes.
* A buff for stabbing-oriented weapons! They were way underpowered.
(1) Added a new 'feint and jab' attack to most spears and polearms, as well as estoc, replacing the weak 'cut' attack they used to have; notable exceptions are spear, bladed spear, heavy spear and pike. The attack is equal to regular jab, but trades off all of its recover speed for a very quick strike.
(2) Made 'cut' attack for bladed spear more similar to that of glaive and swords.
(3) Made 'cut' attack for spear, heavy spear and pike have the same speed as the 'feint and jab'.
(4) Added 'feint and jab' attack to spear to make it less unlucky.
(5) Removed 'prick' attack from pike and heavy spear to make them less unlucky.
* Rebalanced production for new steels!
- Mild steel has been removed entirely.
- You can now make steel with 15 coal bars instead of flux. The vanilla way is still there, but the lack of flux on the map is no longer a "soft cap" on steel production.
- Goblin and kobold presets now allow them to make steel using the coal-based reaction.
- Tempered steel and dwarven steel now require a lot more coal and flux. Their trade values were also greatly increased.
- Tempered steel now takes 4 bars (2 iron, 2 steel) for the return of 3 bars, not as punishing as it were.
- Tempered steel can no longer be used to forge picks.
* Multiattack modifiers, both good and bad, were thoughtfully redistributed for all weapons based on attack and weapon design specifics.
* New type of ammo: crescent arrows. Leave wide, shallow wounds, good for causing bleeding in small to average creatures, but really weak against armor.
* Readjusted the costs of armor a bit. Garments with 100% protection now cost more, except for footwear and full helm. Handwear is generally cheaper, as well as most gear with a low blockchance. Full plate armor with no eye protection still takes 45 bars. Full mail armor with a skullcap and no eye protection is now 17 bars.
* Added 'loosely hack' attack to bearded axe, to make it a bit weaker, but removed the 'slap' attack.
* Removed 'thrust with spike' attack from flanged mace to make it more bashing-oriented.
* Replaced 'jab' attack with 'feint and jab' for scimitar.
* Spike strikes for halberd, poleaxe and polehammer were nerfed to minimize penetration depth.
* Reduced penetration for morningstar 'bash' attack.
* Increased area for maul. Was too good at damaging armor.
* Seriously reduced penetration and increased area for hatchet.
* Reduced area for hooked axe 'strike with spike' attack, now better at piercing armor.
* Cushioning properties for cloth (THREAD_PLANT_TEMPLATE), silk (SILK_TEMPLATE) and hair (HAIR_TEMPLATE) have been dialed down to standard 1x elasticity (compared to vanilla 2x elasticity). Lower elasticity was making them a tad too powerful.
* Made fat (FAT_TEMPLATE) as strong as skin against force transfer, for layer consistency.
* Chitin (CHITIN_TEMPLATE) can once again be used as a shell - for moods, certain items and armors. It no longer yields leather. This differs from its use in Revised as bone, but I felt like there aren't enough interesting materials for shell armor in the game, and chitinous creatures are rare and dangerous enough to justify it.
* Bone is back in place of cartilage for fingers/toes/fins, as "finger bone agony" has been fixed.
* Removed muscle from vertebrate's fingers/toes, but thickened the skin. In reality, fingers/toes only have sinew, not muscle.
* Renamed 'mallet' to 'war club' and changed the tag accordingly. Also, reduced its contact area. It really didn't feel like a tiny tool hammer belongs on a battlefield.
