I assign a non-braindead cartographer, she disappears. Cursed, I say.

Southeast. That should put us where I thought we already were, so...
Then east. Honestly, not much reason not to just keep going east until we get a clue as to what that light was.

((I get a seemingly backhanded insult behind my back  :-\ I was never notified OTHER than a change of spoiler title and bolded action. I'm going to update the map then after Piece posts.))

((How did you make that wicked title graphic?))
I created a map using a program called "Hexkit" and then added the logo in paint.net. The logo was made via editing a compass rose and then inserting the text with a circular text plugin before running an outline glow filter and a few others.

"I think we've gone off track.  I think we're on 0302 instead."

According to the compass and what you can see, the mountains seem to run north to south, but they drift east as they do. You do a quick check around and find that  North West, West, and South West are all mountains while South east is a mudplain, east is a lake, and north east is more bog.

Mark on the map:
302 as bog or whatever it is we are standing in. (mudplain?)
301, 202, 303 as mountain
403 mudplain
402 lake
401 bog

Please put a white outline around, or a dot toward the top of, each of these map tiles, to indicate that we have visually confirmed them to be that.

I can't outline, so I stuck a little thing in the corner.

You head southeast and straight into the mudplain. It is slow going, clomping through knee deep mud. Oz notices that the mud isn't normal mud; there are a lot of dead fish here and what should be marine plants. This is a lake bed; but not a dry one. Its almost like the water was just diverted away from it recently.  He also notices just barely visible spores in the air; like fine grains of dust or pollen drifting on low but constant winds from the east.

Examine the east, southeast, and southwest tiles. What terrain do we see? Those marks in the corner are fine. THey distinguish the explored and marked from the unexplored and from the unmarked.

Hahahahah... We're all gonna die a Fungal Doom! Hey! I bet that lake up there used to be this former lake here. Call it a hunch.
Shall we go southeast? Maybe we can skirt around the edge of the Windborn Sporous Cloud and come at our destination from upwind?

Sounds fine. Except for the bit about dying.

East is a salt plain, south east is another lake, or rather what appears to be a continuation of the first, but not dried up. Southwest is more mountains.

You use bits of cloth torn from clothing to fashion simple face masks.

Southeast is a lake so...probably gonna wanna retry that assuming you don't have a boat.

Ana fiddled with the map, clearly having trouble with her...infestation.

"I don't think I'm up to being a good cartographer. My senses are unhindered anyway, and I lack the tools to work with this map as much as...you do. Now here's to wishing we had something to cross water or dip into water. We do have an oiled suit though, so someone could explore this region, preferably with a weapon."

If you're asking me where to go, it's polite to at least tell me which directions I'm physically incapable of going in. East.

Alright so we head east.

Ah, look, finally an encounter.

As you walk across the flat white plains of fish bones and solidified salt you see something. A humanoid figure walking alone across the plains, towards the north. He seems to notice you at the same time. And then he points at you.

[5v8]

Thorned vines burst from the ground with the speed and force of a beartrap closing, ensnaring Ana and jerking her down to her knees with her arms pinned to her sides, The thorns aren't long enough to be fatally wounding, but they're like barbed wire, piercing and holding. The man in the distance draws a sword and charges forward. As he gets closer you can see he isn't a man; he's some sort of moving plant in human form. Its body is green and almost looks like insect chitin, all overlapping plates. Its head is acorn shaped with a long hair of flowering vines and eyes that are nothing more than large blue flowers. His weapon resembles a straight sword made of flower pedals that are constantly being shed, without effecting the shape or size of the blade.

Being disarmed (...probably), Ana just writhes and looks at her allies.

"It's always me isn't it. Perfect for getting their attention!"

Then if she senses that there's no other danger, she just keeps writhing.

But focusing on sensing if there's any other danger goes first.
