I trust Rose. If she's spooked, there's probably a good reason.
Go invis, selfshift to be as aware and alert as possible (Ears (fox), Eyes (Falcon)(foxes actually don't have any better eyesight than humans, might actually be slightly worse), Nose (fox), tune muscles for quick reactions (fox, am expecting side-effects from this one), fine-tune sense of balance and spatial awareness(fox, am expecting side-effects). Am expecting at least one roll to fail but as long as Ears are good then i'm willing to just continue on despite the failures), and then once ready blink over towards whatever spooked Rose (my familiar) and see what's going on.
You channel your mana, touching the light and allowing it to pass through you. Your hands disappear from view, and you can still feel the sun but the heat is somewhat lessened.
That done, you set about modifying nearly every single part of your body simultaneously.
[1] [4]
Your ears morph themselves into those of a fox. Pointing them to the west you detect the sound of something powering up.
[5]
Your eyes grow slightly larger and much sharper, allowing you to see the four figures to the west. Around 1 kilometer.
Quadruped with a large missile launcher mounted on top. Made of metal, of course, and larger than any real animal you've seen. The front appears to be caked in dried blood.
Six-legged insect thing. It's seemingly unarmed, and you can detect a magical glow from its abdomen.
Hardsuited human. Hard to tell from this distance, but it appears to be holding a normal-sized rifle or guns of some kind. You can't read it at this distance and you don't know the alien language too well anyway, but the machine's camouflage pattern seems to be utterly ruined by bold red letters printed on the chest.
Finally, what seems more like a stereotypical mech. Seems unusually lightly armored, allowing you to see some internal components. Its only armament is a great big cannon, which it seems to be leveling in your direction. Ah-
[2] [6]
The snout that sprouts from your face mostly just gets in the way of your vision. Hot and dry. And sweaty humans, but you could already detect that.
[5] (Bonus canceled out by penalty for too many complex actions in a turn)
Your muscles tense, getting ready to react on a moment's notice. Not a moment too soon, either.
[3] (ditto)
Your stance shifts almost inperceptively, just enough that the other changes don't knock you completely off balance.
[3] [6] (Modified for dodging, saw it coming)
You immediately move away once your morphs complete and blink. You end up prone from your haste, but are unharmed when the shell explodes quite close to where you were standing.
get moving westward, but be careful. There's little cover and I might need to dodge on a moment's notice.
You start running to the west. You're faster than any human has any right to be, but Niko is even faster.
A shell rips over your head and impacts where you were standing moments ago. You're not close enough to see exactly where it came from in this sun, but it's fairly close to the west.
Niko stands, stretching her arms across her chest and says with a frown. "Welp, Imma gonna take a look to west. I doubt I'll need any help but if you guys get fucked up then... I don't know. Scream I guess? Not my problem."
Niko dissolves into blue sparks, reappearing and reorienting her to the west and begins speeding towards the sunset.
Zzap. You appear a few meters to your left. That never gets old.
You zip over the open terrain irresponsibly quickly, covering about 500 meters in only a few seconds. You're interrupted by the sound of a cannon firing and a shell passing over your head. This prompts you to look forwards and see the three giant robots in front of you. One standing on two feet, with a giant smoking cannon on its shoulder, a giant kitty with a rocket on its back, and a weird spider thing with a glowing body.
