Binged on Witcher 1 for whole day (and some of the night), playing trough first two chapters and some of the third. Discovered that Raymond's quest becomes silly if you do all others first.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Bother. There was a wonderful russian site for witcher 1 containing detailed walktrough and info about all things in the game. Now it isn't, and highest stuff in search results is an epitome of uselessness, because those wiki editors consider the most important thing to be quest logs and in-game descriptions and don't tell a word about how to actually complete a quest or what a given thing is. Who needs that? Who needs that? And walktrough is kinda needed, because few quests in first Witcher resemble those in Dark Souls.

I'm currently playing Pulsar: Lost Colony
It's one of the few games that gives that sci fi ship crew feeling!
Finally! The Star Trek style game I always wanted.

I manned the weapons in a few games, shooting enemy (and friendly) ships with a giant laser.

The away missions are a little bland, but the game is overall really good!

I need someone with more experience to make a thread, the last one was posted on about five years ago.

Kenshi, picked it up in the summer sale and I decided to actually play it instead of throwing it into the eternal backlog forever.

I don't know if I've ever loved and hated a game so much at the same time. There's just so, so many frustrating things about it. In particular, but not limited to:

Spoiler: a long kenshi rant (click to show/hide)

I know mods fix some of the problems, but that's not an excuse IMO.

Anyway despite the rant I do like the game, like... a lot. And I've put dozens of hours into it over the last few weeks, I even had a plan for a second playthrough forming in my mind but lately the more I play the more the flaws stick out and I think I probably won't even "finish" (such as you can finish an endless sandbox) my first game. I got my money's worth and I don't regret buying it but it's such a missed opportunity, the core gameplay is so good I wish it was not held back by technical issues and a few questionable design decisions.

Ah Kenshi, I love/hate it so.
At least it wasn't being Krashi on your system, although in recent years it only gets Krashi when I try to load too many mods or the wrong mods.

I wasn't aware about the spawning. In my games, it seems nothing respawns, but maybe my settings are different?
Note that respawning requires a location not be under observation: You could leave someone hidden and the maps won't respawn.

I often theorize that Kenshi is a moon only a fraction the size of the Earth.  It's the only way to explain the speeds high Athletics can generate.

I have a great time in Kenshi for about the first 5 to 8 hours. Then I try to build a base and it's just a matter of time before unfinished content is unfinished and I find the tedium too much to deal with. Hopefully they actually finish Kenshi 2.

How much of that was trying to figure out the combat system? One of the few games to kill me during the tutorial, and without me having the slightest clue what they actually wanted me to do.

Took me some time to get used to that combat system too.

Basically first you must select correctly your combat stance so it corresponds to your current enemy (there are 3 combat stances : one for stong enemies, another for fast enemies and one when you're facing a group of enemies)  using the wrong combat stance make Geralt doing very small damage and getting spanked a lot more, and when fighting a group, remember to change your stance when you have only 1 enemy left as the group stance is very bad on a 1vs1.

Then press your attack button/key and wait for Geralt to do his opening combo, when the sword will flash press once more your attack key For Geralt to extand his combo, do that until the enemy is dead or you reaching Geralt last combo (increasing his skill will add more combo extension).
If you're not patient enough and click when the sword isn't flashing your Geralt will stop his combo and you're going to get hurt by the enemy.

Depending on difficulty level, you may have to jump dodge/retreat between a few combo serie, or you can just combo things to death on lower difficulty

Of course you need to also use steel for normal enemies and for silver for unnatural things and monsters

I completed the game because there was some nice things going on in there and i really wanted to get to the end of the story, but i didn't really enjoyed the combat system, Witcher 2 changed it completely into something a lot more satisfying and enjoyable for me as it reminded me more of those Soul-like/Mnster Hunter-like games, knowing when to roll away, when to attack, when to combo etc..., Witcher 2 combat system was a massive improvement to me, feeling more in control instead of being mostly a spectator of the fights like in Witcher 1.

I never enjoyed the Witcher series, as it seems a lot of Geralt’a motivation seems to be whether or not he can fuck something at the end of a quest.

Tinder Quest lol

I can see that for 1 and 2 but for 3 it's not quite that, though he does take time to do the old romance quest during the game too of course.

That's unfair, sometimes in the game he can have sex before starting a quest !

None - that may have been seventh start. Never understood complaints about combat system being hard to figure out. I remember it being awkward in the tutorial first time i played, yes, but after that it was totally fine. Except being generally awkward.  :P I consider all Witchers' combat dull clickfest, but first one was at least original about it.

It must have been a bug, I thought it was weird that I didn't notice any corpses anywhere or anything either. So somehow I guess the area got reset? I don't know. But I went back and killed some more guys and they actually seem to stay dead now.

The "1 vs whole city" strategy is actually crazy good, compared to trying to fight in a mob. I actually replaced my main fighter's armor with assassin rags, samurai cloth pants, wooden sandals, and some no-penalty hat and it seems massively better than actually wearing armor. He's not eating constant unblockable AoE anymore so even though the chest hole in the assassin rags is scary, he takes virtually zero damage due to super fast blocks. He managed to blender his way through all the regular guards and even kill a few elite paladins before he took enough "chip" damage that I had him run away. Surprisingly enough, he didn't even take *that* much more damage per hit with light armor than he did in full specialist heavy plate.

Kind of makes me wonder what the point of being able to control so many people is. I expected to have to raise a small army of sorts to beat up the main factions, but actually that's bad and it seems better to just have maybe 3 - 4 fighters and maybe a few workers making food or something. Unfinished/unbalanced game is unfinished, I guess. Still feels kind of awful that the game advertises "you aren't special at all in any way" and yet after a few months of running around killing bandits you're capable of solo'ing a whole major faction's capital city.

I have a great time in Kenshi for about the first 5 to 8 hours. Then I try to build a base and it's just a matter of time before unfinished content is unfinished and I find the tedium too much to deal with. Hopefully they actually finish Kenshi 2.

That's extremely fair. The technical issues are the biggest problem, imo but a very close second is that the game only feels maybe 50% - 60% finished. The core is there, but it just needs..."more" of everything. I'm really hoping kenshi 2 turns out good, or at least less buggy.

How feasible is it to build a little house of your own now? What really turned me off at the time was the moment you started to build anything, every bandit in the country would beeline to you and go, "Hey! This guy has three nails, two planks of wood, and a rock that you can use to hammer things together with! GET 'IM, BOYZ!"

That still happens, which is why it's generally not recommended to go building a base until you're ready (rather than as soon as you have a handful of building material). It is much safer to buy a house in a town somewhere and use that as a starter base where you can conduct basic research and stockpile goods while training your dudes to survive bandit attacks.
