You no longer feel uncomfortable when their blood sprays and they die. It was the most disconcerting thing when you first killed. You have to remind yourself to wash your hands of blood these days. This world is a harsh place, and by jove, you are going to make it out of this hole.

Stiletto's actually just what you call yourself, everyone else calls you Crusty after that one time.

And yeah, let's hit up that lumber mill first thing in the morning.

Blood, oxygen, and WITCH'S JELLY.
This is your world.
But soon you will WASH your HANDS of it.

You wake up with a CRICK in your BACK.
Trudging through the treeline, you make sure no tree is closer to you than FIFTEEN FEET.
The LUMBER MILL makes no noise these days. It is as silent as ghost fingers, at least until the JOLLY GHOST throws a log out one of the GLASSLESS WINDOWS. Jumping in (for the ghost does not hit the same thing twice), the dark halls lit up only by sunlight through the cracks in the roof where BLIND CROWS duck and dive between the Jolly Ghost's tantrums, their senses far more attuned than yours could be, without the artifacts they guard in their nests above.
You notice they avoid the area where you STAND.
What do you do?

Install the artifact. We must survive.

Don't eat ghosts, that's how we got into this mess to begin with.

Installing the STARLACE would be painful. Thankfully, the actual process is much less gruesome.

You cut open your wrist using the saw, then start stuffing the STARLACE into your GAPING WOUND. Just as the last bead goes in, the Jolly Ghost lifts you up and pins you against the ceiling.

The BLIND CROWS resting on the rafters squawk, and from your WRIST cries of "flee flee" issue forth.
You can now COMMUNICATE WITH ANIMALS.
You are now PINNED AGAINST THE CEILING by the JOLLY GHOST. There are LOOSE BOARDS above you, and you can feel the ghost loosing his grip.

POWERUP and calm the Jolly Ghost.

POWERUP and calm the Jolly Ghost.
Excuse me for my lack of intelligence, but how do you think one should calm the Jolly Ghost?

It's kind of like an animal. We don't have any proof petting doesn't work on it.

Apparently our person knows how, I'm relying on that.

Truth be told, you exaggerated how much you knew how to calm the Jolly Ghost.
Exaggeration is a quality this place does not respect.

Before the Jolly Ghost looses its grip, you reach out. Your hand screams radio static but you press on, stroking a psychic texture.

Your wrist purrs as the grip tightens before you are lowered to the ground.

You move slowly, so slowly, across the floor. It feels as if your footsteps are paired by something behind, something so long it strides with twice your feet. All the while your wrist purrs, intercut with the worried whispers of the blind crows up above, their milky white eyes looking down on you.

When you emerge with the axe handle, the sawblade now wrapped to it by gardening twine, it is nearly night. You went so slow, so afraid, that your filters are in danger of rotting.

You pass through the airlock, wash your hands (but not your wrist, for even if it is bloodstained you are not sure how STARLACES react to water), then fall into sleep.

Another dream.
Little girl, who eats her own like a wild animal, and consorts with demons far beyond her brain: what twisted you into this, turned you away from your fellow man?
Ponder this as the session comes to an end.

The next shall commence on Wednesday the 11th.

No that the little girl, we must eat her (in funny dream mode) our childhood and fear to become the demon (us).
