Well, it says that it's non-intimate as well as entirely legal, so you don't know what more you could honestly ask for! Signing up for the job, you immediately tune into the Celestial Assurance, a steel-and-diamond spire of black shadows mingling with fluorescent, sourceless light that pours out of your mirror and washes over you. Many-armed angels rout you through switchboards of hemispheric reflectors - at last a small god of stationery catches glimpse of you in the reflection of a reception pool. It chuckles to itself when you name the office of interest and routes you through.
Office 157B looks to be a fresh element of Celestial Assurance's efficiency initiatives, in that it's a stairwell connecting offices 157A and 158. Under the sharp and glittering staircase you see a desk, and behind it sits a featureless white manikin doing his level best in eternal battle with what looks to be a filing system originally invented for a different temporal model, because it sure doesn't make sense to anyone looking at it from a linear perspective. You look on for a bit, but the manikin looks terribly occupied with whatever he's doing, so eventually you just demonstratively clear your throat, which gets his attention adequately enough.
"Um," he says, "can I help you?"
"You put out an ad?"
"Yes!" he brightens up. "I need someone to come with me to a party!" A pause. "Would that be you?"
"I... yes? As a 'non-intimate companion for an entirely legal event'," you nod.
"I was hoping you would be larger," the manikin taps his chin.
"Excuse me?"
"You see, I need an escort." You stare at him until he specifies. "To watch my back!"
"At a party?"
"
You don't know what they're like," the manikin says, his blank face somehow evolving a thousand yard stare.
A) "Listen, clearly you have some problems and I am honestly regretting this already so let's just stop right there and I'm gonna hang up and you don't try to call me back, okay?"
B) "Listen, this is beginning to sound like a job worth hazard pay - and I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask for some up front just to take you up on that offer."
C) "Listen, just tell me where I need to be and what I need to wear and I'll try my best. No promises, okay?"
When appropriate, non-player deities will be drawn from unpicked entries from character creation. Feel free to pitch in with godly concepts and it might just make it in somewhere!
