[this can be accomplished any number of ways. Usually, professional equipment will only listen on the maintenance port, which means compromising the administrative system used to administer the router. This is usually a laptop, and ideally does not have wifi-- however, admins are lazy and dont like being disconnected from other network services while doing their work, so the security of the maintenance system is suspect. It may be possible to compromise it. Failing that, some routers have CVEs out on them, where they can be glitched into accepting an SSH session over a normal data port, which we already have plugged into us. We could try that approach as well.]
