While I find the idea that quantum chips might do their calculations in many worlds (and therefore must also exist across those many dimensions) fascinating, it does make me hope that we do not live in a simulation, or all this meddling with infinite states across infinite dimensions might end the universe in a BSOD caused by an integer overflow or divide by zero error.

How would you know though? The simulation could have crashed and been restored from backup numerous times.

The universe simulation has produced Microsoft Windows. I do not expect the universe simulator to have high standards in crash recovery.
I mean c'mon. A BSOD, that's something your IT guy will tell you this about: 'this is a software error that can only be fixed by replacing your hardware. Consider all your data lost and buy a new pc'.

I don't think you can blame the universe for Microsoft's bullshit. That's Microsofts fault.

Just wait until we get a universe update that causes the entire thing to crash and burn.

One of my recurring worries is that I could become successful in life but then when I die I realize that I've just been super absorbed in this game and I actually haven't done anything in reality.

I do wonder though, is this your object of worship?

My username actually comes from a time in my life where I would do lots of toaster-related drawings. I was into SCP at the time and remember reading about that toaster SCP. It wasn't that much of an influence but it did affect me.

Speaking of SCP, has anyone else here read the https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/admonition or https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/redtape canons?

I wonder if molybdenum / neodymium magnet shrapnel flak would be effective against autonomous drones, aiming to disrupt their electronics with strong magnetism if the shrapnel itself doesn't destroy the drone.

Probably not. Fast moving shrapnel will be too small to carry a strong enough field and if it's fast enough to hurt anything it hits its not gonna be near the target for long enough to have much of a magnetic effect. Better off using shotgun style weapons or lasers. Microwaves can also be surprisingly effective as an EM warfare system. Law enforcement has also used birds of prey with some success taking down drones, especially near airports, though they might not be ideal on the battlefield.

Now, some kind of foam glue-filler type shell (not dissimilar to the DIY filler foam) that could gunk up the rotors of something like a quadcopter is something I am surprised we haven't seen.

Even if it would work, it might not be cost effective. Why fire one rare earth magnet shrapnel shell at a drone when you could fire fifty normal shells?

to defeat a drone, you must deploy another slightly bigger drone
