Fix That Flaw!
« on: April 01, 2018, 06:56:32 pm »

Come up with a flaw for the current fortress, and an addition or modification to fix it.
Repeat.
The goal of the fortress is to protect an object called the CORE.
All that is needed for the CORE to be destroyed is for an attacker to have physical access to it.
The CORE must be accessible for non-attackers.
If it becomes impossible to continue, I may restart the thread.
I'll start you off.

The CORE is encased in a small wooden hut with no windows and a locked door.

The CORE makes those that stare at it go insane!

To fix this, sentries wear sunglasses that coincidencidently would seem very trendy to our world in the 80s.

Wait, we have sentries?

An attacker could potentially pick the lock.

To fix this, the lock is replaced with a fingerprint scanner. Pick that.

The wooden hut could be burned down!

To fix that, there is an eternal raincloud spell cast above it.

But most of the base's power generation comes from solar panels!

To fix this, the solar panels are on a hill nearby the base.

Of course, that makes them vulnerable to sabotage!

So there's a wall around the base that encircles the hill.

The walls could be scaled.

To fix this, the base eschews solars entirely and uses geothermal power.

But this idea was scrapped due to a lack of geysers.

Therefore, a computer core is built under the base.

The walls could still be scaled.

To prevent this, they are smeared with a fresh coat of butter daily.

The butter attracts ants, so we built an automated ant-detecting point-defense laser to keep them away.

But the ants in this universe have special light-reflective carapaces.

To fix this, strike teams eliminate any anthills in the area.

However, it is an evil reanimating biome with clouds that cause huskifiction, so going outside is a very bad idea.

Solution is to add "water cannons", and use those to destroy the ant hills. (and the now undead squads we sent to try digging them up.)

The zombies are resistant to water.

To fix this, flower pots with peashooters inside them are mounted on the walls.

Then Michael Jackson died for real, so, to fix this, we silently retconned the Michael Jackson zombie into some disco abomination.

No, actually, the point-defense lasers set the peashooters on fire, so we wrapped them in asbestos.

The asbestos is harmful to plants!

To fix this, the lasers are programmed to not shoot at things that look like peashooters.
