You study the helmet that sits on the pedestal before you. It is made of steel, solid and thickly cut. Small jewels placed in the side glow red, as do the runes surrounding them. You cannot read the runes, but from the magic emanating from it you guess it increases ones strength, and allows them to slip into a berserk fury.

A squad of guards captured a goblin scout that was lurking around. It was heavily wounded, and not long for this world. You had it brought to you. The goblin is a small creature, half the size of your orcs and thin. Piercing it’s mind, it screams curses at you as you see the approaching army in its thoughts, around two and a half thousand goblins. That was only a small portion of the 10,000 goblins (100 packs) that reside at the goblin fortress. You also see it’s memories, happy and sad ones. Playing with other goblin spawn, loving a goblin maiden, joining a pack as a scout to try to win wealth and glory. You look into it’s red eyes, and you look at your guards holding him.
“I’ve got what I needed, please dispose of it.”

You stand at the top of the tower now, much higher than your tower back home, and you see the approaching army in the distance, amplified through your magics. Now you should decide what to do.

A. Meet the goblin army in the field.
B. Stay in the Outpost, wait for them to attack.
C. Something else, a more elaborate attack or defensive plan?

Also, should your forces (8 warbands) dealing with the raiding camps
A. Meet you at the outpost.
B. Meet you at the fortress
C. Continue dealing with the raiding camps

And what do you do with the helmet?
A. Wear it myself.
B. Give it to a captain
C. Hold on to it for now.
D. Host a gladiator contest, the winner of which gets the helm and becomes your champion.

C, Look for any mountainus paths or narrow canyons ahead that our warbands shall set up ambush in, using falling rocks and luring them into tight passages. If there's neither mountainus paths or narrow canyon available then have slave gangs dig trenchs up to shoulder height for our orcs to use, aswell as having our orcs set up up pitfalls and rope traps hidden in trees to put of mount, then give each orc two to three rocks to use. 

C, They will continue with their orders.

Using your knowledge gleaned  from the minds of the goblin and feral orc you captured, you find an excellent ambush point. Orcs, boasting and feasting around campfires of their victory over their lesser cousins, are mustered by shouting captains back into some semblance of order. Boisterous chants echo from the outpost as they march to war.

The battlefield was to be a cliffside pass, overhanging a bustling mountain stream. Unfortunately there was no element of surprise to be had, for the goblin army had arrived on the other side. There is a moment of pregnant silence, with only the wind snapping banners and chips of mountain larks breaking it. Then the captains bellow and the warbands charge to their assigned positions.

The left flank is a steep cliff plunging into a coursing mountain stream. The center is a rocky piece of ground, gently sloping to the right. It’s about 50 orcs wide. The right side is broken off from the right by a steep hill, on which the top is relatively flat. Whoever controls the top can charge down the side.

You have 10 warbands (1 stayed back to hold the outpost and prisoners). How do you split the forces?

A. 5 center/ 5 flank
B. 3 center/ 7 flank
C. 7 center/ 3 flank
D. Something else?


You watch as the orcs stream to their positions. A face appears from the crowd, blue eyes, grey beard, watching intently. A blink and it is gone. You scan with your mind, but nothing appears out of the ordinary. What do you do in this battle?

A. Stay back and command the fighting.
B. Use your powers to make some enemy commanders charge ahead, others hang back.
C. Fight on the front. Though you aren’t the best fighter, your mind powers will allow you to predict the next stroke.
D. Something else?

Splinters of the goblins force broke off, running madly towards your warbands. The orcs charged back. The orcs, on average twice the mass of a goblin, crushed the vanguard of both the center and flank. The goblin commanders shook off their hesitancy soon, and they came to reinforce their brothers. Cries and shouts soon echoed through the pass as the battle was joined.

Bubol the Mad stood in the center, his sword and ladle bloody, his eyes gleaming red. A goblin leapt at him, but he slammed the ladle into its skull, sending it crumbling to the ground. He had no time to savor the blow, as 3 more goblins came to take its place.

The center stabilized, as the goblins couldn’t bring their greater numbers to bear. On the right flank, your warbands begin to be forced back under the weight of their numbers and grater agility through the rough terrain. There may be a risk soon that they may attack your center from the side.

You feel a cold whisper on your neck, and a press at the back of your mind. You raise mental barriers immediately, but it doesn’t seem like an attack.

What do you do?
A. Try to divine what the mental presence is.
B. Send the trolls in (Center or Right flank)
C. Go in yourself to boost morale (Center or Right Flank)
D. Something else
?
