Witch-hunt: Act 1 - The Trail of Blood [6/6]

Witch-hunt

The wilderness around ruins of Darkbog Citadel is truly a sign of nature's might. Trees, bushes and dense vegetation spread seemingly overnight, taking more and more space. Legions of lumberjacks work hard every day to prevent the jungle from completely raiding The Wolf's Road – the only trade route leading from Erdhen to capital of Iseth. Brothers of the Order of the Rising Sun suspected that Darkbog forests were cursed upon demise of the tyrant ruling those lands in the ages past, but their warnings were ignored. At first travellers getting lost in these woods were thought to be killed by beasts, but after sightings of a beautiful lady calling men into the wilderness were reported, an ominous tale of a bloody witch spread around the whole Tenath. Many adventurers and hired mercenaries tried to reach the ruins and fight the witch, but many of them died in outer woods, and none of those who returned were able to pass through an impenetrable wall of vegetation bordering the forest's heart.

One day, a group of adventurers – six of them, met in a tavern halfway between the border of Erdhen and Wickbreach, the capital of Iseth. Just a day of travel to reach Darkbog forests. The had discussed the tale of witch living in those woods, and blinded by glory and fortune, or perhaps out of good will and noble hearts, they decided to raid the forest and end her dark reign.

Act 1
The Trail of Blood

And Lo! I saw a fair lady,
Mustn't bow, she took me to a grove shady.
To a forest far away, stricken with murderous night,
Where darkness obscures the way, in the air a poisonous blight.
To a dread wilderness, filled with terrifying disgust,
A venture into nothingness, where no man can last.
But to follow afraid not, by her hand I was led,
Until my flesh rot, and I was dead.

Written by an unknown traveller.

Spoiler: Ferro (click to show/hide)

It's a traumatized and senile knight veteran cursed with a super-heavy cumbersome armor that makes him extremely slow and it's unable to be taken off. He's also very old, has memory loss, is illiterate, mute and has PTSD. But the armor is a very good armor.

He may or may not die of old age in the middle of the game.

Note: I didn't list any weapon in his equipment, but he is able to use anything because of his knight training. And he is strong enough that punching with the massive armored gauntlets of his armor often gets the job done against most things.

Immortality like that would be even more game breaking than four Aaron's in one place.
You're both so obviously scum that this is a surprisingly difficult decision.

Reserved. This ironically fits well for Reynald, but i'm going to hold off that till I see if anyone wants to be the group's main fighter.

I figure at some point, you're just gonna run outta fucks to give and just off yourself whenever you get hurt at all. It's not like there's any downsides to it. Hangover? Suicide will fix that. Stubbed your toe? Suicide. Headache? Suicide. Papercut? Suicide.

However, it is important to note that a team composed mainly of peasants doesn't stand much chance against darkness of Darkbog forests

Dennis would disagree strenuously, sir!

Spoiler: Sheet (click to show/hide)

Roguish type character. Can dish out damage but probably can’t take it.

Scholarly route here. Will likely need protection, but she'll probably be able to tell everyone how best to deal with hostile magics. I'll mostly be staying at range, thank you kindly.

Glass is, as usual, correct.
Yep, as ever, I bestow upon Glass the expected +1
I'm gonna say we go with whatever Glass's idea is.

Sheet done. I know you said no magical items, but the armor has no beneficial magic and is instead a huge cumbersome armor with multiple curses.

I'll allow it, but since it's cursed and so heavy, it might give him penalties when moving or dodging.

Is this alright? I'm trying to make a sort of non-magical healer/debuffer character, with the pet crocodile for melee combat. Maybe the crocodile should have -1 on all rolls for balance, or I can't take other actions while directing the crocodile?

I'm in, but give me the time to make my sheet. As you know Dark, I like my characters like I like my coffee, taking a long time to finish, and ungodly complicated.

Don't worry too much about the one mistake, Smoke Mirrors. Your character was memorable for all the demonology and story writing.

I’m running a game/mechanics test called Fate/Mechanics Test. Feel free to check it out.
