Don't reverse hollowing before the sitting down animation finishes, don't slide down like two ladders. Should do just fine.

A few people have been releasing some remake footage they've got, if anyone's interested.

Vaati
Prepare to Try
Sunlight Blade
Silver Mont
Shirrako

I prefer the original bonfire.

To be honest, I thought it'd look a little nicer. Character textures are ok but I feel like the level textures look dumpy. Also the lighting doesn't seem to have gotten much if any love.

The only important thing is: will the game be properly playable with mouse and keyboard? I only got to that first area after the intro/tutorial part, because the controls were awful, with the inventory/menu being a lot worse than even Bethesda games. Which is quite the achievement!

Huh. I think I'll stick with the original. It looks like they've mostly just stuck a murk filter over everything.

Yeah, the "better" filters are just going to make it look more generic, less distinctive half the time. Fixing Izalith, Crystal Caves, all that would be nice. The particles effects, flame, fog gates, lightning etc is maybe smoother than the original textures, but looks kind of... out of place. Might just be that I'm not used to it, but they don't seem to mesh well with the original design.

The quality of life changes would be nice, the mass brawls... ok, but I for one am not buying this.

While Vaati was fawning over the lighting at firelink shrine, all I could think was that it looked less vibrant and more depressing. Depressing is an acceptable mood for many areas in Dark Souls, but firelink is not one of them!

I also dislike the multiplayer changes. Phantoms shouldn't get estus. And call me crazy, but I liked putting souls on my hotbar and chewing through them better than using x number from the menu.

Yeah it doesn't look fantastic. I'm hoping at best it gives a more stable standpoint for visual mods etc.

Unfortunately, as other people have said this just isn't going to sell well - it should be free or at the most DLC priced due to how abysmal the original port is and how little this changes things. My worry is that with this failing they'll decide not to bother porting across other games or doing a Demon Souls re-release

You're crazy.

Totally agree about that Firelink comparison though. Reminds me of those damn filters people started putting over films after "O Brother Where Art Thou" used the sepia look, or thenabouts.

We'll have to see how the pvp plays out. Secondhand, in my case. Pretty cheeky of them to make any pvp changes at all, without engaging much with the mind-bending mess DS1 pvp is, but the no humanity thing I like. Estus for phantoms seems a bit like a DS3 copypasta, but hey ho.

Hmm, the phantoms being able to use estus isn't something I'm particularly happy about, but it isn't a deal breaker either. Those videos are good at helping manage expectations, as I was starting to get taken away by the hype.

One other little thing that I'm not too fond of is the new bonfire it just seems... too realistic? I don't know, some of the atmosphere in DS is from the fantastical feel the whole game has. It's noticeable to me because I remember being lost in the tomb of the giants on my first time through, and spending a good couple of minutes staring at the fire, wondering what to do.

That being said, I'm still pretty excited to play through again with a fresh multiplayer pool & official support of DSFix lool

The original bonfire had a slow, twisting flame. Something distinctive. The new one just looks like it's on fire...

Tomb of the Giants for me was like being shoved into someone's anus: An area which is ninety-five percent pitch black. It (pitch-black darkness) does add to the atmosphere, but Tomb of the Giants is still my least favorite area in the whole Dark Souls 1.

I agree, but that didn't turn me off from buying. DSFix still struggles maintaining 60fps on an otherwise decent machine (GTX980M, 3.5GHz processor, 16 RAM), plus I would like to see Dark Souls 1 with omnidirectional rolling.

I don't think there's omnidirectional rolling.

Really? I thought it would be, since they remake it in DkS 3 engine, which had omnidirectional rolling.

EDIT: Forgot word "engine".

The youtubers who played a bit seem to think not... It's definitely more of a remaster than a remake from what we've seen (asylum to Solaire). Biggest changes I've noticed are prettier particle effects.
