Tomb of the Giants for me was like being shoved into someone's anus: An area which is ninety-five percent pitch black. It (pitch-black darkness) does add to the atmosphere, but Tomb of the Giants is still my least favorite area in the whole Dark Souls 1.
Yeah, my first playthrough was a mage and thus had access to the light and poison curing spells, which made both blightown and the Tomb smaller pains in the ass then they would have otherwise been. Not that I did well in blighttown. No, in fact I died over and over and over again since I missed one of the bonfires and fell down like 30 times in a row. God I hate that place.

I didn't find Blighttown frustrating or hard at all. I actually liked it as an area. You can actually see crap in the Blighttown.

I'm always wary when people feel the need to "remaster" games... And doubly so when the game in question had strong art direction to start with. So this unfortunately seems to be meeting my expectations perfectly so far. :/

In terms of Dark Souls areas, I didn't have any that I hated... but I also played Demon's Souls first, so my main reaction to Blighttown was "oh god, I can't believe how kind and gentle this is compared to the Valley of Defilement."

Tomb of the Giants, along with S&O, is part of the reason I never finished DS1.

The youtubers ive seen were mostly like "eh this is barely a remaster at all".

Vaadi did a side-by-side gushing about the improvements and everyone in the comments gave him shit because there was no visible difference whatsoever except some tweaked lighting and a longer draw distance

It doesn't have even stable 60fps and omnidirectional rolling?

Any gameplay videos, or only graphical comparison videos?

Okay, worse than DSFix, then, which you can't use with the new version. And parts of the visuals are uglier than the original even without DSFix. And you can now get ganked by like 4 phantoms as an invader, yay. And they didn't fix chain backstabs but did fix other exploits.

Some parts of the visuals are nicer, some are uglier. I'm conflicted. For example, the lighting on some things really clashes with the environment and the silver knight set is no longer shiny and chrome but silver-grey and playdough. On the other hand, Queelag's magical explosion is actually well-defined visually.

As for invasions being harder... well, I've been stupid enough to mess around with the pointless meta pvp so I pretty much always had to hold back and cripple myself with weak weapons when invading to avoid instakilling the lone hosts I generally encounter. So I'm not complaining about stronger ganks, maybe because I never played a Souls game in its heyday. In fact, ganks at all would be nice.

It's about what I expected. Same game more or less, same bugs. However, I have to say the revived multiplayer is awesome. I usually help people through boss fights when I can, and the surge of new players has helped me get more action. I usually have to wait less than 30 seconds to get a summon going.

For me anyway, it's worth the 20$, considering I'm probably going to spend over a couple hundred hours in it, I'm getting good value for my money.

I preordered the switch version, which isn't out yet :/

I'll probably get the street fighter collection first.

After all the reviews think I’ll wait on this. Seeing stuff from the network test kinda stripped my nostalgia goggles off my head.

Honestly, all the worries about poise builds and lag stabs were a bit knee-jerk. I've got 26 hours in now and have been invading/getting invaded quite a lot. I have yet to see anyone hacking or using modded equipment/items, which is good. However, I have procured a list of known hackers and preemptively blocked them. I'm not sure if that actually works, but I also plan on hitting alt+f4 if I see one of their names appear. Same issue as before and with the other DS games, unfortunately.

I would say "hopefully a future patch helps address this problem"... but it's From Software. Still REALLY enjoying it nonetheless.
