Always use google search and lock to the forum address, simple machines search is very poor.

Flying fortress was disruptive, but my understanding was that VN got nuked due to persistent attempts to post pornography and a generally wild forum culture.

I mean. Is the Flying Fortress's existence not due to VN's wild forum culture? I didn't say it was the only reason VN was axed but I thought it was part of the reason.

Was there one big incident that got VN banned? Or was it a cumulative sort of thing?

Who/what was VN?

Various Nonsense. I don't remember much of that from the old days, mainly because I didn't venture into the lower boards much back then, maybe.

It was basically a bin for 'everything else that doesn't belong in other places'.

Various Nonsense. The original off topic subforum. It got nuked.

Anybody know when it got nuked?

edit: Looked at the oldest thread in this section, which is Feb 2008, well over a year before I joined. So, no wonder I don't remember it, it didn't exist when I joined.

Oh, then the forum was still dealing with the aftermath of it when I joined.

I was an early 2012er, and boy am I glad I found this place. It feels like internet home.

Fixed my friend. It's obviously beyond the Toad's control, but damn is it bad.

What is the proper method to lock the forum address in Google search?

Use 'site:bay12forums.com' before your query.

PTW

I feel like there aren't many incidents (probably for the better) that resonate throughout the forums as much anymore. Maybe the Ameripol massacre of 2016, or when Neo got the axe, are the most recent events that spring to mind.

But yeah, growing up and life in general will tend to draw you away from things that were once amazing in your eyes. The key is to find something or someplace where the calm and "boring" parts are enjoyable. Engaging with something only for the high points is something that I've found, at least, to be an indicator that it won't last. Which is why I check the forums daily, even if I don't post too much.

EDIT:Wait, I didn't need to type PTW since I actually posted something AW MAN

I am also happy with the mostly well-behaved forum state, the less moderation needed the more time The Toad can put towards development.

I really wish he would let us help him, but he does what he does, contributions should make it for now.
