Yet Another Evolution Game [Blobs That Eat Sulphur]

Somewhere in space, there's a star that was recently born from a nebula. It's surrounded by clouds of dust and rocks and gas, but all of this has yet to form into planets...

So, before we get down to the business of actually evolving, competing, dying, splitting in half to produce more of ourselves and so on, we need to determine what planet, or planets, will form from this protoplanetary cloud, and which one will have the ingredients for life present on it.

So, starting up another one of these, since the last one I did is something like 3 years old at this point. Think up of a planet and its attributes, just keep within the realm of possibilities. No hypercubes orbiting the star or something bizarre like that. Decided to go this way to give you lot a bit more control as to how the ecosystem will turn out, rather than forcing a super generic Earth-like world onto you.

Shitty MSpaint representations of the organism may be present in updates depending on whether or not I can be bothered.

Give us something like Venus....sans the acid and horrendous temperatures, thick atmospheres FTW.

Agreed on Venus, but keep a little bit of the acid, to make it more interesting.

Give it some mountains and deep, giant valleys, so the air is even thicker at the bottom?

I like the extreme geology idea; if we're starting at the cellular level (ie: are we starting single cell or multicell?) then maybe the air at the bottom of the valleys could be thick enough to simulate a "pool", and we could live in those and subsist off water vapor or the sort

It's not a multiplayer game (though it might be in the future. I'm considering allowing players to take over different species as the evolutionary line splits.). Just you lot guiding this thing down the evolutionary path.

One reason I'm not sure about MP is that if one person vanishes it can be annoying to get around it.
ohhhh i misunderstood. So are we voting on the species name?

Eating goop and occasionally splitting is good, though! Maybe we could evolve sticky filaments to hold the split cells close together in a cluster, though.

I don't wanna go multicellular, yet. I feel like we would expend more resources than we could create/consume at this stage.

Instead I vote we evolve some very basic flagella so we can move towards locations with higher chemical count or away from zones that aren't entirely safe.

Some chemoreceptors to be more selective in our absorption could be nice.

Now a flagellum, so  we can move in the direction of the food.

Replace the RNA for DNA for more stability

Evolve simple proteins that can be used by chemoreceptors on our species cells.
(I'm assuming our cells can create/use vacuoles)

These proteins would be expelled from the cells (like a toxin, but not used as a toxin) when in high nutrient density regions. The higher the density, the more proteins created. Cells may be able to target regions with lots of these proteins or leave regions with fewer proteins, to maximize population.
