I'm in for a turn, and usually available. It'd be a good chance to see what people make of my simple/compact (but many z-levels deep) starting style, or see how sane-ish dwarves dig.

I'd request a miner, if possible. (I'd also request a magma pipe or chasm if possible, so feel free to treat my demands as you would any noble's).

Count me for a turn, but don't expect me to return it with all the dwarves I got it.

No river would be nice, for fps.
But then again, we would need an aquifer, that can be a real bore for the first or second player.

Seconding magma pipe.

Quick edit: 44.05 or 44.07? I would prefer 44.05 for Dwarf Therapist, but 44.07 has some nice fixes.

Slow edit: Scratch that, Dwarf Therapist has 44.07 version since last sunday.

Slower edit: Congratulations on your first post Psychedelichu, that was a lot of lurking before succumbing to the madness.

It's possible to get water from the caves as well (I think one layer has to have water, by default?), so neither aquifers nor rivers are necessary.

Worst case we save a murky pool for purifying.

Oh, general preferences are also important!

Should we put some stuff we would prefer others not to do?
I am particularly fond of draining and paving the murky pools near the center of the map.

Also take the opportunity to vote for 2x2 or 3x3 embark.

Fast question... aquifer or no aquifer?

I'd say no aquifer as long as there is at least a brook on the map.

Anything is fine.
I'm okay with the first turn if we need to breach an aquifer too.
By the way, how are the turns organized? One fort year or maybe a few days per player?

As long as you find a way through the aquifer before my turn, I don't mind

I'd vote against aquifer.

The size matters less to me, as long as you can fit 2-3 different biomes (either more or less seems to work out weirdly) on the embark. 2 should be pretty easily do-able with any embark over 1x1, so that's hopefully not much of a limit. As long as there is a source of water, and there almost always is, we should be good.

I can't think of any embark resources that you can't get from training immigrants or trading with caravans, so just pick whatever you plan on using in the first year. It's pretty much just what you want to have guaranteed (2 miners, a mildly-competent trader, a doctor that doesn't kill patients too often, enough food and drink to survive until farms start producing) and quality of life stuff. I would like to see what you pick, though. How others play is interesting to me.

Yeah, doctors are very uncommon...
The aquifer is somewhat booring but If I go first I make a nice ~9x9 hole and we can forget it afterwards, most locations with nice characteristics such as both clay, shallow and deep metals have aquifers, so there's that.
