Turn 19c: Welcome to the Party.


The last thing Yuki could remember was trying to get past a crowd in the streets when she suddenly ended in this strange place. The best word to describe it would be "exotic". At least one this was certain: She was not in Japan anymore. Large men wearing colorful oriental clothing and large turbans are playing enormous drums while nimble women in elegant dresses and veils dance and play flutes. The whole place is very noisy, but also somehow calming. After wandering for a while, you end at the snack table, where you find a man resting in a chair while looking at the dancers and musicians in a daze.

Stephen couldn't even remember how did he get there or what was he doing when he arrived there, but he didn't really care. He was too focused in the haunting melody of the instruments the other partygoers were playing. It was frenetic, it was calm. It was very loud, it was almost inaudible. It made him want to dance, it made him want to sleep. He wanted to continue to hear it, he wanted it to stop. A strange piece of music, it was otherworldly, incomprehensible. But at the same time, it was natural, familiar. His trance is broken, as he notices a small girl staring at him.

This was a curious place. Even more curious was the petite lass observing the man intently. Perhaps the girl recognised Krawiec from one of his concerts? That would spur his pride to unforseen levels. He couldn't let such an opportunity go, could he?

Krawiec approached the girl and with a smile full of good will he greeted the woman.

Name: Stephen Kravitz (Stefan Krawiec)
Appearance: Thin, with a long face. He looks tired constantly, due to his messy dark ginger hair and dark eyebags. He is rather tall and lean. Most of his clothes are ill-fitting. He mostly wears white shirts with bowties and beige pants.
Personality: Stephen has a bad tendency of being melancholic when faced with problems. Another flaw of his is that he is a bit of a womanizer, though he vehemently disagrees with that. When happy, he often whistles or hums tunes that he appears to make on the spot. Kravitz is quite the social chap and enjoys interacting with his fans.
Backstory: Kravitz was born in a small Silesian coal town. His father was very strict and intended for his son to follow his footsteps and work in the coal mines. Kravitz, however, greatly enjoyed music. He stole his father's savings and ran away to Prague to make his living as a musician. He was in luck, as an established musician was taking in students. From him Stephen learned how to play the violin (he was a self-taught trumpet player) and was taught how to read music sheets. After learning all that his master could teach him, Kravitz's luck had left him. He could not find employment and was running out of money. He managed to get his hands on a violin and stole a trumpet and was on the run from the police. He played in opium dens, where the drugged up clientele entered a trance much deeper due to Stephen's tunes. With his last money he bought a ticket on a trans-atlantic ship to make a new life in the United States. Now, he has only the clothes on his back, fifty cents, a trumpet and a violin.

Status: Fine.

Stefan blinks. In his eyes concern slowly turns into worry turning into fear. This conversation was going nowhere fast.
"Say, how about some spirits? Let me bring you a drink."
Stefan discretely detached himself from this strange woman and approached the tables. There he looked for the nearest cocktail glass and grabbed it. Then, he turned around and tried to spot the host of the extraordinary ball.
