Saint Afra's Press Release
-To be distributed at Sunday Mass 3/11/18-
Saint Afra's Academy has suffered a defeat in the first round of the 2018, with few casualties. A funeral mass will be held to honor the departed students.
The tanks began exchanging fire the second turn in, to no effect. SAA held formation, while Haley split up their forces, sending their snipers to high ground. To combat this, and in order to hit the weaker side armor of the enemy tank, our forces split into psi formation (see page 124 in Belli Sacri). Their snipers had been aiming for our force's best gunners, succeeding in tracking Perpetua alongside a barrage of less effective hits. It was here our faith was test, as three tanks fell in as many shots. Both the tanks in the top half of psi formation had been defeated, while the exposed psi had been finished off. The formation having failed, our surviving tanks fled to the defense of the town. Here, they where attacked from two positions, the snipers on the hill to the north and the Panzer IIIs to the south of town.
From the safe refuge of the town, Polycarp rushed to the sniper's hill to engage after the failure of psi formation. During its second attempt, it was capable of hugging the enemy tank close. The second sniper had attempted to remove it from this location, hitting its alley instead, destroying the tracts and preventing it from escaping the hug. In effect, this had doomed their best sniper. In time the crew of Polycarp as able to destroy the enemy tank. After its defeat, it had ran to engage the second sniper, setting it alight much quicker.
However, during this whole time the snipers had continued pouring fire onto the town. While maneuvering in the town provided reasonable defenses, Lucius had fallen to the sniper's fire. The two remaining Shermans fled to the south to hit the Panzer's from the side and eventually flee from the Sniper's fire, but both had failed in their assault. While many hits where scored by our brave crewmen, including many piercing hits, the vast majority of the Shermans hits had failed to disable or even inconvenience the enemy tanks. Blandina had its tracks disabled in the assault, leaving it alone as Justin returned to the safety of the city. The city was much less safe than assumed, and Justin was defeated, leaving Blandina alone and exposed.
Polycarp went south to engage the enemy Panzers as they engaged Blandina. The enemy split up, engaging each tank one on one. Blandina was taken out by a hit to the turret, leaving Polycarp alone. While Polycarp landed another hit should have been lethal by all rights, the enemy tanks remained standing and engaged Polycarp. After the firefight continued, Polycarp had a damaged gun and the enemy had damaged tracks with all three tanks hugging each other.
At this point, the match was decided by Guess the Number by the highest-ranking captains who remained standing. It seems victory was not our fate, as Haley's representative had correctly foretold the number that was pulled from the hat, granting them victory. Saint Afra's is currently accepting new members, to be trained for the next tournament. Those interested in pursuing the sport should speak to Sister Cassano after Mass.
Long story short: I couldn't hit anything, and all my hits failed to actually do anything >_>. Twin couldn't miss anything, and many of his hits actually did damage. I somehow managed to take out a couple of his tanks with my M3 of all things, but eventually lost anyway. I needed better gunners >_>.
