Suggested new items:
  • Iron sword for 2 gold
  • Wooden shield for 1 gold

We'll need to decide on this quickly, since the Wamblehunt is starting pretty soon. If no one says they are opposed, I'll post an relevant post in the IC thread.

Given the urgency, I'm gonna say we don't need a comment period for this. Especially given you've already worked out their combat properties. We can immediately implement these. I'll leave the posting to you, since I'm not sure how much of the combat properties you want to include in the offering.

As Ranger Guildmaster, I would be interested to receive a list of the most important resources the Inventor Master wishes to put together for your items.

As Ranger Guildmaster, I would be interested to receive a list of the most important resources the Inventor Master wishes to put together for your items.
We need wood and iron for the items that exist already. Wambler fluff should also exist. Below are summaries of what we have so far. Any inventor can vote aye or nay on this ballot, or propose an amendment which will then be voted on. After these basics pass we can draw up other recipes and materials.

Quote from: Proposal 1.0 - Basic Resources, Exchange Rates, and Combat Equipment
Summary: Below is the bare minimum to craft existing proposed items and utilize existing creatures. Each material is given a simple description and a value that we, the inventor's guild, would be willing to pay for it. Each recipe is given a list of materials used, and possible outcomes. They also have a value that we, the Inventor's Guild, will sell them for. I propose we immediately adopt them, and that new recipes which are permutation on these materials be developed shortly. The voting time for this proposal is kept short because the Ranger's Guild is dependent upon a quick response.

Votes: Closes March 6th, barring amendment
Aye | 1 | UristMcChladni
Nay | 0 |

Quote from: Materials and Values
Wood | Good strong lumber, usable in construction or crafting | 0.5 Gold
Iron | Cold hard iron is the basest metal, but no less useful for it | 1 Gold
Wambler Fluff | The softest fleece from the cutest creature| 2 Gold
Quote from: Recipe 0 - Wooden Shield
Description: A piece of wood to keep between yourself and sharp things
Fair Market Value: 1
Recipe: 1 Wood
Outcomes:
40% Failure with consumption of wood
10% Failure without consumption of wood
40% Success with consumption of wood
10% Success without consumption of wood

Note: These odds make it so that the expectation value of crafting is 0.6 gold,
above the value of raw wood, making crafting worthwhile, but there is a high
failure rate, so selling to us is a bet against that failure.
Quote from: Recipe 1 - Iron Sword
Description: A sharp thing somebody might want to block with wood
Fair Market Value: 2
Recipe: 1 Iron
Outcomes:
40% Failure with consumption of iron
10% Failure without consumption of iron
40% Success with consumption of iron
10% Success without consumption of iron

Note: Balanced as before

Quote from: Proposal 1.0 - Bounties for Basic Guild Duties
Summary: This is a proposal to provide awards for the performance of the already posted guild duties.

Votes: Closes March 7th, barring amendment
Aye | 1 | UristMcChladni
Nay | 0 |

Duty                                                                             | Reward
Post outcome of player crafting                                       | 1 Gold
Develop new, or remove or update old, recipe or material | 2 Gold (upon passage of proposal)

Notes: Maintaining inventories has been omitted until it is clear to what degree player inventories are public, and we have a better sense of how we will handle it. Updating the crafting list is omitted as it is a duty of the current Guildmaster, and their post is their compensation for it's performance.

Sorry for double-post, but roseheart asked that the Mage's Guild checks in with you about some magical ingredients.

For one, we're thinking of using "mana crystals" as the main spell ingredient -- they come in different colors, which correspond to different types of magic (red, yellow, blue, etc.) Secondly, we're thinking of using "astral dust" -- basically acts as a conduit for mana and spells, also very often used. The Ranger's Guild is working on a yellow mana elemental, which is a sort of living embodiment of yellow magic. When it dies, it drops a yellow mana crystal, 5 units of astral dust, and a 25% chance of an "elemental shell" -- something that can be used for summoning your own elementals. There will be other kinds of mana elementals, again coming in various colors, which correspond to the type of mana crystal they drop and thus the type of magic which can be obtained from them.

What do you think of all this?

Another important thing about items, is how they will be stored and the limits to capacity.

I think it would be really cool if we could do some kind of grid system. Like Resident Evil 4/Diablo II.

That sounds good to me. Do you have any other magical items that need to be immediately realized? Do you have an idea of how valuable they would be to the Inventor's Guild for crafting, or are they primarily of magical use?

Another important thing about items, is how they will be stored and the limits to capacity.

I think it would be really cool if we could do some kind of grid system. Like Resident Evil 4/Diablo II.
Yeah, that's something we could make work. I like those systems over weights, but the graphics would be relatively time intensive to make, and the system is inherently graphical, so that's sort of hard to avoid. I appear to be running a pretty empty ship here, but if I can come up with a way to make and populate grid inventories without driving myself crazy, I'll do it.

Cooking!

I should add that to the Jesters.

(sound reasonable?)

If we're going to give people a reasonable amount of items they can hold, to some extent they're going to need to track it themselves. Even with for use spreadsheet tools, It'd still be a lot of things.

This gets more challenging when we want to introduce theft later on and so we should probably keep things fairly light for now cus they might need to change again and again.

A simple way of doing the grid, might just be to have it be one row and in simple ASCII with just like bars.

I think if we want to make it an economic thing it should be handled here, but if it's an idle-hands sort of thing the jesters can take it.

So you're saying something like this representing 10 spots:
| | | | | | | | | | |
with this being objects of size 2 and 3 taking up space:
|A|A|B|B|B| | | | | |
?

That's easily compressible to shorter text: Object A (Size 2), Object B (Size 3). Inventory Used 5/10.

Hmm, perhaps cooking can have a 'tastiness' value that Jesters assign and resolve(Or spicy, sweet, tart, ect values perhaps for some contest).

I think I will add a general "cooking" domain to Jesters. However as with any Guild that fabricates ingredients or items, it must be inventor guild approved. I'll make sure to more clearly pronounce that in OP.

So perhaps atleast a two line, for rotation and so on:

|B|A|B|B|
|B|C|C|C|

Edit: I like the idea of players being able to buy different kinds of bags with different dimensions. So they could do one long, or like a box, or rectangle.

What was your idea?

Edit2: Perhaps some items like liquids need to be kept upright.

That works for me. It shouldn't be wildly difficult to track. I take it equipped items won't count? One option would be to have default inventory only of pockets:
| | |  and | | |
Different storage solutions would have different dimensions. For example, a bandolier designed to hold only small items would be:
| | || | || | |
Where double lines indicate borders between spaces. A backpack would be large:
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
A scabbard would be long, and only able to hold blades:
| | | | |
And we could apply various different arrangements. What do you think?
