I decided to give shaft mining a shot, and hit a large vein of copper literally just below the soil level (I think it's large anyway, I don't have much experience with vein size in this game yet). Needless to say, I will have an anvil shortly, just as soon as I make some more charcoal.

Copper is literally everywhere.  If you use a prospectors pick it doesn't even tell you if there is copper, unless it's deep copper, that's just how common it is.  If you need copper just wonder around a cliffy area and you will find exposed surface veins that will provide 100-300 ore.

The server's going down in half an hour. The latest update is stable and we're still rocking unstable.

Found 168 iron ore.  Now to get enough charcoal to melt it seeing as lignite burns to cold.  I hope 23 firewood stack charcoal pile will give me enough.  Also need to pull up a ton more fire clay to make bricks to make bloomeries.  Each bloomery can only take 20 ore and doesn't return the full amount of bricks that went into it.

Logged back in to try finishing my walls, and it seems I can't build at my mine/quarry. Every time I place a block I says "No privilege to build here."

EDIT: Also, I can't use my chests and such "No privilege to use blocks here."

I suspect it might be spawn protection. I think I've removed it.

I'm over 300 blocks from the spawn, and I still can't do anything. I literally starved to death because I couldn't even pick berries.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I have no clue if it will help but I moved spawn to a peninsula down the coast and rebooted. Given the early access nature of the game, several of the commands don't have documentation or help text. I was going to de-op myself and test it but I can't do so.

Server settings are borked.  All players are guests (game mode 0) and not in survival (game mode 1).

You can starve to death as a guest? Weird. Maybe that should be reported as a bug?

Don't honestly know if that is it, but seems like it could be.

The server is down until further notice. Sorry. I feel shitty about that. Even starting completely anew from a fresh archive results in this behavior.

Back up. New world. I don't blame you if you don't want to start over.

If you still want to play, let me know what all you had and I'll spawn it in.
